If you could...

If you could go anywhere in the Caribbean one last time, and money was no object...

Where would you go and why?

(just curious...thanks in advance for your posts.)

For me, the answer is easy. CUBA!!!!
I love the country and its people, culture and history. Cuban music is wonderful, blending strong African components with a Latin flair. Think "Buena Vista Social Club" and Compay Segundo and you'll begin to understand why I like it so much. Also the great Salsa in the style of the late Celia Cruz.
Granted it's not for everybody, but that's my first choice.
If you want to SEE WHY I enjoy the country, check out my Cuban photo site.

I would use the Rosewood Resorts deal that lets you split your stay between Caneel Bay (St. John) and Little Dix (Virgin Gorda).

How about one 1st time. Cuba. I hope some day it opens up more for US citizens. I know, I've read all the pros and cons about US citizens going there and I know I probably could go w/o a problem. However its just that slight possibility, plus you can't be helped by the US govt. if a problem were to arise that keeps me away.

To one of the luxurious resorts or to one of the outstanding villas in the British Virgin Islands - it's paradise!

so hard to decide on one:
Pine Cay in Turks and Caicos
or
St Bart's
or
Virgin Gorda
Any luxurious villa or resort at the above.

Aug 04,

That is a difficult question to answer... but I would have to say I'd
go to Anguilla and stay at the Cap.
I've been to Anguilla but have never stayed at the Cap. The beaches that
make up Anguilla are just breathtaking and the restaurants are incredible...plus the locals are fantastic. Just driving onto Cap's property is breathtaking. I'll enjoy reading these responses:)

I find the last comment interesting because I've never read that one before (just driving onto Cap's property is breathtaking).
I like Cap Juluca, mostly for its beach, rooms are nice and food is great, but I remember the first time I drove up to it and thought, "Wow, this place is not all that impressive from the outside given its reputation".
The salt ponds around CJ are not particularly pretty (especially all that ugly foam that builds up and blows around), the grass is not too green and is very parched looking (since the island is very arid), not a lot of foliage, and the driveway has a lot of cracks and uneven spots.
Contrast with Cuisinart, which looks more like a resort you'd find in Hawaii. I was impressed with its external appearance.
So where would I stay, no limits?
I'd rent Necker Island for myself, family, and a several friends. And I'd plan out a wonderful list of meals in advance.
