What else can we do? A group of us decided to book the Iberostar Costa Dorada for a quick and inexpensive dose of sun and warmth. Some members of the group are a little antsy and can't lie around the beach all day. Are there any places of interest nearby? Is the town worth visiting or a waste? We range in age from 17 months to 62, so can anyone suggest interesting side trips or any good sightseeing venues? Much appreciated, Renee.

we also booked at the costa dorado for March and I have been reading about various day-trips on www.debbiesdominicantravel.com. I think the problem is more "how do I do this in 1 week?".

There are some trip reports that talk about different excursions and then there is a section just for reviews of day trips.

Thanks xxx, I looked at it. I'm still trying to get info on the beaches there also since I recall reading some negative posts about them here. Have you heard anything re: the quality of the beaches? We have 'til Tuesday to book and I'm a little concerned. It doesn't mention bad beaches at debbiesdominicantravel, but I wonder what some of the posters here found disappointing? Hopefully they'll respond on my other post.

My understanding is that the beaches are great, they're just not the white sand you would expect in the Caribbean. They more of the golden sand you would see in the southern US beaches. All reports are that the Iberostar staff are constantly cleaning seaweed, etc. from the beach to keep it pristine. We spend about six months every year (because I enjoy it not because I'm anal ... well maybe a little) and we slowly weed out resorts until we get to the final 10. That's when my husband gets involved. We finally picked this resort. Couldn't find a bad report with the exception of some guy who was ticked off because he couldn't get his brand of scotch.

You will have a ball at this resort. Beach and all!
