ideal spot for 1st weekend away from baby
My husband and I are looking for a relaxing locale in the caribbean for a long weekend - our first away from our daughter who will be almost one when we go. Looking for high end resort, excellent service, etc. - open in terms of which island. Was considering the Four Seasons Nevis, but many postings indicated it is mostly families and this is going to be the one time we are not in that boat! Thanks in advance for any suggestions....

What time of year are you traveling?
And from where are you flying? You may want to go to whichever island gives you the shortest and most direct flight, because (a) you're going for a short time, and (b) you'll have a greater sense of security about having to return quickly if there's a "what if." Of course, it's also hurricane season through most of the Caribbean until October... So you may want to go further out to avoid that. Hey, I wouldn't worry about kids if you really want to go to 4S. Are you going after school starts? At any rate, you'll just be so thankful that any fussing isn't coming from your bebe, you'll barely notice it. |
Thanks, Dreamer2. We are talking about going in Feb/March and would be flying from Charlotte. Agreed on trying to find an island with relatively easy flights...

We flew to St Thomas from RDU and then took the ferry to St John.It is a beautiful island with some nice, calm beaches. The water is crystal clear for snorkeling. Also the island is very laid back so would be relaxing for you.:) For convenient accomodations..check out Gallows Point it is convenient to town and has beautiful views from the rooms.Good luck!! PS Does your name (actarheel) mean that you are a Tarheel's fan??If so,I am a Wolfpack fan.LOL |
Thanks, christiegr. And yes, I went to Carolina....

My husband and I took a trip to Jamaica in January for our first getaway from our son, who was just shy of two. We were flying out of the DC area, and chose Jamaica because we could get a relatively quick, direct flight to the island. We stayed in Negril at the Rockhouse, which was a wonderful relaxing vacation--just what we needed. If I had to plan again, we would either split our time in Negril between Idle Awhile and the Rockhouse, or go to the Jamaica Inn, which sounds absolutely wonderful. Have fun!

Why not look into the One and Only Ocean Club on Paradise Island. Its' just a 2 hour flight. Easy to get to .. and the One and Only is a world away from the hustle and bustle of Nassau and Atlantis.

Big second on Ocean Club recommendation-very high end, calm and relatively easy to get to-all important when you want to make the most of your precious time away. We have been several times and it is the kind of place that you never need to leave if you don't want to! good luck........
