Ideal island for beach, snorkel, relax

Looking for personal opinions on the best island(s) that have great beaches to comb, reefs to snorkel from shore and not infested with high rises or casinos and such. We aren't too much into nightlife but love to sample local fresh food and cook it ourselves. Need secluded, private comfortable place on the beach. Proximity to civilazation is irrelevant.
Anybody have their version?

Try Petit St. Vincent - private island in the grenadines. www.psvresort.com.
It was spectacular!
Good luck.

St John, USVI. 2/3 of the island is National Park. Beautiful beaches, excellent snorkeling, right off the beach. Very relaxing...and great hiking too!

St. John without a doubt. The beaches are beautiful and there is no glamour or glitz. It was the most relaxing vacation ever. I highly recommend renting your own villa for the utmost seclusion. However, it probably won't be right on the beach.

Eleuthera! Renta a private home directly on a pink (yes pink!) beach. We honestly did not see another person on the beach for five days, both times we were there! No nightlife, just local pizza and conch salad places. 100 miles of undiscovered beaches. Talk about romantic! Take a peek at vacationspot.com We rented "calypso".
