Hyatt or Westin in Cayman?

Any advice over which is the better overall hotel and location? Thanks.

can you be just a tad more specific in which criteria are important to you ?

Hyatt hands down... Stayed at the Westin.. Rooms were worse than hooker motels.. Just plain and small and nondescipt.. The WEstin has a great pool area, but that's about it.. Hyatt suites on the beach side is where I would do it all over again..

It all depends what's important to you.

We stayed at the Hyatt and were very happy with it.
The Westin's beachfront is bigger (my response to that is how much beachfront does one need?) and their pools are much bigger (Hyatt's pools are definitely on the small side).

Here's my trip report which includes review of the Hyatt and photos of it.

Didnt stay at the Hyatt, but would never stay at the Westin again. They have no shade at the pool. You are at the mercy of the trees. Everything is overpriced and the rooms are tiny.

Peace, Greenie

Thanks to everyone for input. Am also considering the Grand Marriot -- also 4 star listed, and better rates. Any thoughts?

The Hyatt suites are gorgeous and huge. Not sure if they even have any rooms that are not suites. May be part of the reason for the higher price.

The Hyatt is all suites, only 53 of them.

I think the nasty comments about the rooms at the Westin were over the top, they do maintain Westin standards, including the "Heavenly" beds.

The Westin has the longest stretch of beachfront of any resort in the Seven Mile Beach area (700 feet) and is known for that long, deep beach.

The Grand Cayman Marriott is another nice hotel, having had a major upgrade in the last year or two. It does however suffer from having a very shallow beach with is subject to beach erosion, but you can also just walk a little futher along 7MB.

Basically you won't go wrong with any of them.

I did not go inside each hotel, but all the higher-end 7MB big hotels seemed pretty much to same to me. If you are knowingly restricting your choice to between two different higher end hotels in basically the same area of a developed beach strip, I doubt you will go wrong with either.

Stayed at the Marriott. Beach front is small as well as the pool. Resort was overall nice and we could walk into town from the resort which is at the upper end of 7 mile beach. The Westin beach is the best hands-down, but I have never stayed there. Determine what is most important to you. What ever you choose, you will love this island! Have fun!
