Hyatt Dorado Resort in Puerto Rico

Hi! Looking for feedback on this resort. Has anyone been there, did you have a great time or horrible time? Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are looking to spend a lot of time on the beach and have good food and still be able to get around to local sights like Yunque, Camuy Caves, etc. Any tips or suggestions?

Hi, we have been there twice, most recently last month. We are also owners at the timeshare that is part of the resort (next to Hyatt Cerramar) so we know quite a bit about the property. If you give me some specifics about what is important to you I can be more helpful. My husband and I are 40 -- the first time we went to Dorado we went without our young children and we loved the entire resort so much we ended up buying a timeshare so we could bring the kids back and have a condo to stay in. Last month we went with the kids. We love Dorado, it is so peaceful and has a sprawling elegance to it that is very special. This is not the place to go if you want lots of nightlife, it is very quiet. The sister resort Cerramar has a casino and is more lively, especially on weekends when many of the local folks visit. Absolutely stay in a beachfront room, they are well worth it and only steps from the beach. A recent poster called Dorado a "dump" and I was worried that it had gone downhill but last month it was still nice as I remembered. I think that person hated the quiet of Dorado which is why he ran the place down. Maybe he got a bad room too, I hear the golf course rooms are not as nice as the ones on the beach. No way is it anywhere near being a dump, it is a beautiful property. I have found folks either love it or dislike it, it is not for everyone. Feel free to ask me ?'s

Hello! I too am looking to vacation in Puerto Rico next year, probably June, and would like to stay at eh Hyatt Dorado Resort. My friend and I are looking for a beautiful, relaxing resort as well as the nightlife. I would like to know how clean the beach and water are as well as the resorts service towards their customers on the beach. Do they offer beach chairs and towels for lounging? Is there a beach bar for thirsty sun bathers? Was the Hyatt staff helpful in determining the best and most cost effective activities both inside and outside the resort? Was there anything missing from the Hyatt Dorado that put a damper on your vacation? Also, if anyone has visited Puerto Rico in June, how's the weather?

hi eileen, thanks soo much for taking the time to help me! my main concern is the beach. i need for it to be calm and clean (no seaweed and hard rocks/corals, etc.). also, i've heard that some hotels (like the wyndham dorado), require you to take a boat ride to the actual ocean. i want to avoid this. also, the pool, is it big? clean? crowded? how about the affiliation with the cerromar? is it really that accessible? what kind of nightlife do they have at both, the resort and the cerromar? and lastly, how hard is it to get to the outside places, like the Yunque, Camuy Caves and local restaurants. i've heard people have to rent cars, but they didn't seem bothered. but puerto rico has a rep for bad drivers-should this really be a concern?

so generally, we are looking for a quite place to sun bathe, relax without having too many screaming children around (no offense to your children, i am sure they are lovely) , but at the same time, we would like to experience a high level of service. and by this i mean, having the staff respond to our reasonable requests in a timely matter as well as being curteous. we've heard horror stories of the customer service in the wyndham dorado and for such reason we are not going there and have decided to look at the hyatt.

oh, one other thing...what kind of clientele would you say that hyatt caters to? though my friend and are 26yrs old, we live in nyc and want to take a break from it all.

again, thanks soo much for your help!

For a laid back vacation the Dorado fits the bill. Beach is clean and seaweed is not a problem. The beach, however, is narrow but that is not a problem since it is never crowded. Water is clean and calm.Pool is large but nothing special - standard rectangular shape. I have never seen it crowded.
he erromar is next door and a shuttle runs between the two hotels. Same beachn butpool is a huge river-pool and that attracts lots of kids. Unless you have a rental caall activity will be either hotel. Tours can be booked at the hotel.
