hyatt dorado or westin rio mar
for family, kids 11&13.also which hotel better golf, food. is rain forest worth trip?
thanks would appreciate any help. |
Westin is right across El Yunque rainforest; Dorado is about 1.5 hour drive to rainforest, but it is much closer to the Camuy caves.
Westin is one building, Dorado is several two story buildings with about ten rooms each. Both have direct access to the beach and nice swimming pools. Westin is 5 years old. Hyatt Dorado is 40 years old. Each has two 18-hole courses. All four are excellent and about the same cost. The town of Río Grande (Westin) is starting to adjust itself to the tourism, but the hotel provides all the activity you need. The town of Dorado has had tourism forever, so it there is more to do, but the hotel has fewer ammenities. Food will be better at the Westin, with more restaurants, and the service is better overall. However there are much more out-of-hotel food alternatives in the town of Dorado. Enjoy. |
I can not tell you about the Westin, however, we stayed at the Dorado & loved it! The rooms are wonderful, the grounds are beautiful & the beach is nice. Yopu can also take a trolly ( 7 minutes) to it's sister resort which is not occupied at the moment & let the kids use the water slide/pool.

If you are considering Hyatt Dorado, look at its sister timeshare resort Hyatt Hacienda Del Mar. It is two bedroom condos, located in the part of the resort with the river pool, water slide and is a much better location for the kids than the Hyatt Dorado which is really, really quiet, basic pools, etc. You have access to everything at the Hyatts via a trolley and this will total four golf courses, about six restaurants, several beaches, pools, etc. We are HDM owners and our kids think it is paradise! You can rent the condos through hyattvacationclub.com

I looking for owners of HDM that could tell me the size of the 2 bedroom units an also what makes this proporty special to PR.
