hyatt dorado, casita worth the $$?

We are staying @ the dorado for 5 nights. Is it worth the extra $150/night to stay in the beachfront casita, or is the 2nd floor beachfront as nice?

Is the food as bad as I hear?

Thnx

Does the casita contain more space? I have stayed in the beachfront upper and loved it. I actually like the location better than the casitas which I believe have the entrance near the main pool (the other side faces the beach) The beachfront rooms are spread out all along the beach and are a bit more private and quiet. I thought the view was better from the upper rooms than then lower. I would think it would only be worth it if the rooms were lots larger, nicer and if that was important to you. $750 is a lot more $$. I also think the food at Su Casa was fabulous and the other restaurants were not bad either, But things could have changed in the two years since I have been there.

Not sure how "bad" you have heard that they were ... they were typical Hyatt fare! Definitely head over to SuCasa for dinner and the golf club for breakfast. Sure beats the scene of everyone grabbing at the breakfast buffet like the food was going to run out!

You can also use the facilities at the Hyatt Cerromar. A shuttle service is provided. I don't know if food is bad but it certainly is expensive. Did not eat at the Dorado but the food at the Cerromar was adequate.

The beachfront rooms are both very nice - upper (King Bed) or lower (double beds)the casitas are several suites located by the pool, and those have extra space and are worth the $150.00.... but if you are just referring to the beachfront lower vs upper, 2nd floor is the way to go, nice king bed, great view and a private balcony... "Su Casa" food is good, but the town of Dorado is really nice and have several great places as well, like Trattoria Gargani (great italian)etc..
The place is great, just avoid the Timeshare Marketing Reps.
