We will be staying at the Hyatt in November? What can you tell me about the Hyatt. We are used to staying at the Four Seasons and have stayed at other Hyatts(Maui, Cayman,Kauai) -our favorite being the one in Kauai. How does the Aruba Hyatt compare?

What is the low down on the beach situation-is it really that crowded that you have to get up at 6 to get a hut. Is it really crowded on the beach that there are people everywhere around you.

Are there any fast food and cheap places to eat within short walking distance of the Hyatt?

Has anyone eaten the breakfast buffet at the Hyatt? If so how much is it? If I add it to our room reservation they will charge $16/day excluding service fee. I wanted to find out if its cheaper if I walk into the buffet rather than added it to my room reservation?

What are some of the must dos in Aruba?

The Hyatt in Aruba is a very pretty hotel. We had a drink there last April. Since I did not stay there I cannot comment on the rooms. I would recommend that you post this question on the Aruba Bulletin board

The Hyatt in Aruba is beautiful. Far surpasses the one in Grand Cayman.

There's a MacDonald's right up the street from the Hyatt, just past the Setar telephone office, plus some smaller and lesser known restaurants near Costa Linda and in the little plaza across from the Hyatt. Salt & Pepper is one of them and it's got dozens of tapas-style dishes for around $5 each.

I'm almost positive the breakfast buffet at the Hyatt was not less than $16. I think it was $16.95 or $18.95. If you go to some of the trip reports, lots of people post exact prices of their meals.

We're so wiped out when we go on vacation that we do very little sightseeing. Our biggest "musts" on Aruba are the restaurants. But I think a drive over to the north end near the Lighthouse and the country club (Tierra del Sol) is really lovely in the late afternoon before sunset. The terrain there reminded me a little of Big Sur.

There is a great little place called "Lindas Pizza and Pancake" in the same plaza with a place called "Captians Corner". Down the street from the fast food place I think it is a Wendy's. It is a Dutch place and the pizza is really good. But you really want to try the Dutch Pancakes. They are out of this world. The prices are very cheap and the food is really good.

I have stayed at both the Aruba Hyatt and the Kauai Hyatt. Let me first say that the Aruba Hyatt is the nicest hotel on the island. I really enjoyed staying there. With that being said, you really cannot compare the two Hyatts. The Kauai Hyatt is nicer and much bigger than the Aruba Hyatt.

I enjoyed the Sunday buffet as well. I definitely think it's worth a try as long as the price doesn't bother you. I believe it's around $50 per person. I highly recommend a snorkel trip with Red Sail if you like the water. I also recommend dinner at the flying fishbone if your looking for a romantic/special dinner and if you plan on renting a car. It's 40 minutes from the hotel. We made reservations for 5pm (first seating) so we could enjoy the sunset. All the tables are on the beach so be prepared to take off your shoes. For a more casual less expensive dinner and maybe a good option if you have children, is the fajitas and ritas night at the hyatt.

As far as fast food and cheap eats, I believe there is a Mcdonalds across the street from the Hyatt. There is also a tony romas within walking distance.

Unfortunately, what they say about the hut situation is true. You'll be able to find a spot on the beach.

If you are used to the FS, The Hyatt is the only hotel on the island the even comes close to being on that level. That said, it really is no where close to a FS....Aruba is not known for its luxury.We did not actually stay there, but did visit the beach area and yes, the beach really is that crowded. In fact , that is the ONLY reason we chose the Bucuti over the Hyatt.However, the ambiance of the hotel is cool esp. at night.There really isnt a lot to see on the island....natural bride and natural pool are neat...otherwise,hmmm. Dining options are wonderful(esp. Madame Janettes..get an outdoor table).Whatever you do, DO NOT do the jeep tour that includes a visit to the Aloe Factory....I should have known much much much better.
