Hurricane Risk in late October

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon for the end of October and would like to go to St. Barth's. However, we're really worried about Hurricanes. So much we may go to Hawaii instead. Should I be worried? Does anyone know where I can find hard data on this?

This is the prime time for hurricanes. There's no place for "hard data", It's mother nature. You have a better chance of NOT seeing one than you do. Good luck.

Hi Adam! Unfortunately, no one can predict when (if) hurricanes will come. Hurricane season extends from July through November, and October is one of the peak months. However, keep in mind that the it is more likely that you will NOT encounter a hurricane than for a hurricane to form. <BR> <BR>Here are some links where you can read up on historical hurricane and rain data: <BR> <BR>For past hurricanes through St. Bart's: <BR>http://www.st-barths.com/weather/hurricanes.html <BR> <BR>For chances of hurricanes in different parts of the Caribbean in October: <BR>http://www.usatoday.com/weather/huri...nce/whpoct.htm <BR> <BR>For general information on hurricanes in the Caribbean: <BR>http://www.usatoday.com/weather/huricane/whclimo.htm <BR> <BR>For amount of rain by month in the French West Indies: <BR>http://weather.yahoo.com/almanacbrow..._and_Saba.html

The end of October is the tail end of the hurricane season. Chances are good you won't be affected.

Altho the end of hurricane season is the end of November, the closer to the end, after the peak in late September and early October, the chances decrease daily unless, of course, a Lenny comes streaking out of the West or someother odd thing happens! No one can predict when or where but I sure wish they could!

Bill is wrong..October is not prime time for hurricanes..it is past the peak.. although no one can guarantee anything. I have lived in St. maarten for 25 years and have only seen hurricanes in October or November about 3-4 times
