Hurricane Insurance
Me again... I forgot to add to my other post (re: going to Jamaica Sept. 22 thru Oct. 2) that I was wondering how my fiance and I get hurricane insurance. Our vacation package offers "vacation" insurance, but that doesn't include hurricanes. I've seen that some of the resorts give you a hurricane guarantee, but I don't think ours (Couples-Swept Away) does... how would we go about getting this??? Thanks!

Booked for Cuba,in October at Sandals Royal Hicacos. All Sandals provide hurricane insurance. If your vacation is interupted in any way,due to a hurricane, they will re-book your FULL,vacation period, including air fare.Check it out on their site.... |
I am researching for my honeymoon and destination wedding, and have never come across any info. on the Sandals in Cuba before reading this thread! How come it's not mentioned on their web site or included in their brochures????

Thanks for the info on the Sandals in Cuba -- I guess I never realized that it was illegal to advertise for anything in Cuba!
Anyways, I checked out those websites. Do Americans go there, or is it mostly Canadians? |
Hi Again,
Mostly Canadians,a lot of Brits, Germans, and a few U.S.Citizens.Steve, is extremely in the know, his info. is bang on. Bill |
Regarding Sandals Hurricane Insureance. Just so you know, the eye of the hurricane has to pass over the resort for them to consider it a refundable situation. Grand Lido offers No-sun vouchers. Any time it rains all day and prevents you from using the beach, activities and such you will receive a voucher for a free day. Might be something to consider if traveling during hurricane season.

Hi KT,
My husband and I are headed to Swept Away Sept. 26-Oct 2. I too am very concerned about the weather at that time!! From what I have read, unfortunately most travel insurance does not cover weather related incidences i.e. rain-outs. But hopefully we will both have good luck while we are there. We got such a great deal on our trip, probably b/c it's the rain season there at that time. What kind of room are you staying in there? I have heard excellent things about the resort, by the way. A close friend of mine has stayed there and she is VERY picky about rooms and food. my email is [email protected] if you are interested in chatting-- |
