Janet,

It depends what you are looking for regarding your surroundings. Divi is a beautiful resort - but isolated and quiet. Maho is surrounded by evening activities - restaurants, clubs, et al.

Divi has rebuilt since being damaged by hurricanes; sparing no expense. The property is on a penisula of land and overlooks both Little and Great bay. 3 pools, 3 ourdoor bars, a restaurant and a quiet beach.

I can not speak about Maho, except to note it's location.

Janet: I stayed at the Maho beach in a timeshare unit several years ago and it was very nice. The rooms were clean and all the amenities easily available. Nice pool and snack bar nearby. Cherie's disco is right across the street and we went there several times. There is also shopping within walking distance. The planes landing over the beach were more an oddity than a nuisance as you could not hear them at night in the room. I don't know anything about the Divi but I would stay at Maho again although it is a much larger facility than I normally prefer. There is an Italian restaurant in downtown Phillipsburg which is not to be missed! I can't recall the name but it fronts on the beach. The building is not real attractive on the outside but you won't care once you go in. Have a great time!

I'd choose the Maho. It's in the heart of town Simpson Bay/Maho area. Lots of restaurants and casino's in the area and closer to the French side. Also nearest to Mullet and a lot of other beaches.

We stayed at the Divi in March and while the property was very pretty it was too quiet and had no appeal being close to Philipsburg. We looked at the Maho and liked it but decided to go with the Caravanserai in October because we got a better deal.
