How to choose?

I need help in deciding whether to go to St Croix or Cayman Kai on Grand Cayman for xmas this year. We're all snorkeling and diving fans but are concerned about weather and crime! Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?

When you said safety, your answer became GC. The weather should be good, too. I love the VI, but St. Croix has crime. Check out any of the GC sites for further info.

The weather, snorkelling and diving on St. Croix are excellent although St. John would be my first choice. December is way past hurricane season and the "Christmas winds" make for perfection.
99% of crime is local vs. local.

As far as St. Croix I have no info to give but GC has literally no crime to speak of. They have no poverty so there is no crime. Weather is awesome and so is diving. It isnt the cheapest place to visit but its worth it in my opinion

I would re-think the "no crime". There has been at least one murder recently and an armed robbery at a 7MB restaurant. Crime is everyplace - Cayman is better than most but it IS there. Be cautious as you would anyplace.
