Taxi fares are fixed by the government at $2.20 for the first 1/4 mile, then 30 cents for each 1/4 mile at last count. There is an additional 30 cents for each additional 1/4 mile. A year ago to get to PI, for example, it was about about $20 for two people. Hint: discuss the price in advance before putting luggage on the taxi; the little kids may pick up your luggage and load it before you know it. If it's a reputable taxi that's licensed, no problem, and tip the kids who "help" you...they need the money. Watch out for Haitians who run unlicensed taxis; they sometimes charge way out of the customary and government set taxi prices. Whatever the licensed taxi driver charges you, tip him/her 15% on top of that. Robert
