How is Calabash's beach
I've heard mixed reviews - any insight?
|
Do you mean Calabash Bay in Jamaica or some other place/island?
|
If Jamaica, both Billy's Bay and Great Bay are considered the better beaches in Treasure Beach with the more private and hidden cove beaches of Fort Charles not far behind. Calabash is the center of the 4-5 fishing villages.

sionce this is a Grenada forum I assume you mean The Calabash Hotel in Grenada. It sits on Prickly Bay Beach which is a nice quarter mile beach which they share with some private homes and another resort. It is never crowded, has a tan coloured coral sand, and is relatively free of obstacles on the bottom. Occasionally a small amount of seagrass is enncountered, but it is a nice swimming beach with yachts swinging at anchor about 600 feet away. It has shade trees and Jefferson's great beach restaurant at the Calabash Hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Calabash in October. We enjoyed it very much. The beach is not as nice as Grand Anse, but it is really private and quiet. Exactly, what we wanted. There is some sea grass but it isn't unbearable. The restaurant on the beach is very good as well. We really enjoyed the hotel and would recommend it.

The Calabash is a top hotel with great service. I love sitting on the beach at Jeffersons beach restaurant and having a few rums. Even after hurrican Ivan the Calabash is re-opening for business on November 1st, 2004 and the beach is still lovely. Grenada is already growing back, and the Caribbean, the sunsets and the nice, nice people are still there.

There's a Calabash beach on St John too... This isn't just a Grenada forum, it's a full Caribbean forum. You can sort threads by island, but there's just one board for the Caribbean.
Perhaps OP can clarify which Calabash Beach they mean. |
Most people separate the Caribbean by going to a destination island and checking the messages. This one came up on Grenada. Therefore the writer must have put it there.
Can't you see everyone on a Caribbean board with 700+ islands in the Bahamas alone and 12 or so in the Grenadines? |
