How do you pronounce Cap Juluca?

I'm curious about this because I've heard several different pronunciations but having never stayed there am not sure of what's correct. Any voices of authority out there? Thanks. Threehearts

Pronunciation Cap-Jew -Luke-Car Hope that helps (LOL)

Thanks, KXR. So the emphasis is equal on all syllables? Threehearts

Sunnyboy Dec 2nd, 2004 10:42 AM

Sorry to disagree with KXR but there is no "R" in "Cap-Jew-Luke-Ca"

Carola22 Dec 2nd, 2004 10:35 PM

Yes, but where's the emphasis? We tend to say Cap-Jew-LOOK -ah, but what about you?

Statia Dec 3rd, 2004 03:16 AM

From the way I've always heard it pronounced, that is correct, Carolyn.

Statia Dec 3rd, 2004 03:17 AM

Sorry, I meant Carola

Carola22 Dec 3rd, 2004 10:59 AM

Thank you Statia!

Perhaps KXR is from Maine where we add Rs when there aren't any and drop Rs when there are! I was in a meeting recently where a good Mainer asked the facilitator, "Linder, what's the agender fowa this meetin".

Sunnyboy has the right pronunciation!!!Cap-jew-luke-ca!

Statia Dec 11th, 2004 04:45 PM

You're absolutey right, Penny, now that I look at the slight difference between Sunnyboy and Carola's pronunciations. Sunnyboy's post is actually the way I've always heard it pronounced.

Hopefully my DH and I will get over there for a long weekend at Cap Juluca one of these days. We keep talking about it.
