How do you get CHEAP airfare to BERMUDA?

Help! Getting sticker shock from the price of air fares to Bermuda. Lowest fare I found was $700 for my June trip. Thinking of postponing my trip to next year (2006), but will I have any better luck booking my air a year in advance, or will the prices be high any time I book? Thanks!

Air to BDA is usually high in the summer. USAIRWAYS ran a very recent sale. Try running your fare on www.sidestep.com and see if that gives you any kind of a break. What is your departure point? You might consider checking two or three different airports for prices. $700 seems high even for BDA.

cmcfong- I'm going to shop around and see what's out there. Maybe I'll get lucky if I book far enough in advance. If I see something for $500, I'll grab it, but right now everything is coming up $700+. Thanks for your feedback..

Good luck with it, Gail. It is a beautiful place. Be sure and take the kids over to St. George to see the historical district and the reenactment of the dunking of the "nagging wench". Do try the suggestion of looking at the air/hotel packages the different carriers offer.

there is an airline called usa3000 charter. they have flights from the east coast that are really cheap but the times are not convenient. website is www.usa3000.com

That's an interesting point, Denise. I had not heard of them since they don't service my area, but I saw one of their planes in BDA in Dec. Maybe that will work for Gail.

I'll definitely check into usa3000, even though I've never heard of them. There are not too many airline options from EWK (nj) that fly to Bermuda. Problem with booking through some of these lesser "known" airlines as well as US Airways, is that you never know when they will go "under". Thanks for your suggestions...

What's EWK? Do you mean Newark? EWR? Continental flies to Bermuda from Newark and sometimes has fare specials in their Tuesday weekly e-mail. We took advantage of one of their deals in July and got a fare about $229 if I remember correctly.

Airfares are generally always high going there, so I don't think postponing will do you any good.

Did you try flying midweek? Sometimes you can do a little better...if you're flexible, play around with the dates and see if it makes a difference in the fare.

Good luck.

USA3000 advertises $79 one way from Baltimore/Washington (BWI) to Bermuda. Have no idea of their schedule.

cmcfong Feb 23rd, 2005 01:09 PM

Holy cow, Roberto. Might well be worth the drive.

RobertoB Feb 23rd, 2005 07:36 PM

Just for drill I went to their site and played with June dates. As with any airline, some fares are $79 one way, but others are $89, $99, $119. Still a far cry from $700. The flights tend to arrive at BDA somewhat late in the afternoon or even evening.

I think the problem with flying out of EWR (sorry, not EWK)is that there are only a few airlines who fly to Bermuda from there so they can probably charge any fare based on supply/demand. Will have to shop around and see what I can find. Might even contact a travel agent to see what they can come up with. Thanks ALL for you feedbacks..

Gail, looks like midweek all three major carriers (CO, Delta & US Airways) are all close to your $700 number.

USA3000 is the way to go. It's a short flight and their reputation is good on this board. I'm using them to fly from EWR to Florida in June.

I found a $450 flight through HOTWIRE (via Expedia), but never used them before. Wondering if they reputable to book online with? I hate to take chances, especially with flights to Bermuda since they are already scarce and expensive..

I just booked a ticket to Bermuda in July on Hotwire for a friends wedding. It was sooo cheap. I've used Hotwire before so I wasn't too scared. I got a ticket for my boyfriend and myself at $379 each from ATL. It was such a good deal, the bride ended up booking 6 tickets for herself and a few members of her family. It was a better deal than the airlines were offering for a group rate (476) and much better than the 700 currently published. Hope this helps!

If I can save myself $300 per ticket,it's worth it. I also checked USA3000, and they had some REALLY cheap fares, but they don't fly to Bermuda everyday from Newark, so if your flexible on dates, it's worth it. If not, you have to pay the high fares and fly when you want. Thanks again for all the feedbacks. You FODORITES are great!
