How difficult is it to get from Virgin Gorda to St John for the day?
I know that it's easy to get to Tortola-- but what abt St John?
Thanks. |
Usually this will involve changing ferries on Tortola, although there are certain days of the week when there is a direct (not non-stop) option.
You also have the extra hassle of going through customs/immigration. Other than that, not all that difficult. |
It is positively easy. The ferries run on schedules and there are many wonderful daytrip boat operators. I've been on Stormy Petrol and Limnos from St. John and they take good care of you, fun stops at other islands and pleasant lunch planning. I enjoyed it better than trying to manage everything myself.

Tuxedocat: Everything I've checked makes it look as if it's no problem to get from St John to VG-- but not the other way around. What I wish is that we could leave VG mid-morning, spend the day at Caneel (where I know the snorkeling is very good)-- and hop back to Gorda late afternoon. It's curious-- even at the Rosewood resorts, there's a boat from Caneel to Little Dix for the day-- but not in the reverse direction.

That's interesting. Well, there are ferries running from Tortola to St. John at least twice a day, once in the morning and once in the late afternoon/early evening.
