How can I get to St. Maarten from Las Vegas?
Hi everyone,
I am traveling in September. I have googled so many different airlines and cannot find a thing. I do not want to take American Airlines, have 3 stop overs, and have the duration of flight time waste 20 hours. Is there a better way to do this? I am thinking I can fly somewhere near Florida and then take another plane? What smaller airlines are there? thanks! Courtney |
There are at least 5 or 6 airlines, apart from American, that fly via different US cities from Las Vegas to SXM.
Take a look at the following websites : www.fly.com, www.travelocity.com, www.expedia.com or www.bookingbuddy.com. |
From LV or west coast, it is an all day affair to get to SXM.
And when you get there, you go to sleep having paid for your accommodations. Another way to go is leave for Miami at a civilized time, stay overnite at a $60-$80 hotel next to MIA which has shuttle service, fly to SXM in the morning getting in midday so you can enjoy the rest of the day on the island. |
We have this same problem when we travel - and we've found the late evening arrival in Miami, cheap hotel with airport shuttle and early morning flight out works well. Plus, you can book the LAS-MIA and MIA-SXM legs on different airlines that way.

I am sure that the above comments are correct, in principle, but I think that you will very likely find that the overall cost of travel will be CONSIDERABLY higher if you book the flights from LAS - MIA return and MIA - SXM return separately - and then add the cost of your overnight stay in Miami (even in a cheap hotel).

USAAirways.
They go to Charolette, then on to SXM - usually a 3 hour layover in CLT. A few days ago it was $411 RT in Sept. Good Luck, Ellen |
I totally agree with DavidSXM -it can add considerably to the cost of your trip. However, for my family, convenience usually wins out over cost. I guess it's up to each person to decide what's more important for them.
