How are Allegro Resorts? Are they clean? How is the resort in Turks and Caicos?

we had a terrible experience at an allegro resort in the philippines a year ago- they were charging more than$160 a night US (this in a third world country) and they ran a very shoddy operation - the beach was never raked, locals used the "private" beach that you could only access by walking through the hotel's main gate and used the rocks as a toilet; the rooms were shoddy - we would have not been as angry at these things had they been charging $40 a night like most places with these problems- but we found them overpriced. our complaints went unanswered. but again this was in the philippines- so just my 2 cents.

Hi Kerry, I returned from the Allegro Resort Turks & Caicos on 10 June. Although the resort itself could do with some renovations, it is situated on the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. The food was fairly good, the rooms were large and clean and the pool is just lovely. I had a wonderful time on this trip and I would recommend the Allegro as it seems to be the most reasonably priced resort on a very expensive island.<BR><BR>Laura

Toured the Allegro in Aruba. Just fair. It is an all-inclusive. Food just average. I would rather spend my money elsewhere.

The Allegro Resort in the Philippines may not be a part of the same Allegro Resort chain that is in the Caribbean as they are not listed at www.allegroresorts.com.

The Allegro in Aruba 2 years ago was very disappointing

I stayed at Allegro in T and C . The buffet restaurant was fair. The lunch hamburgers offered in one of the bars were good and convenient because we ate at the pool, but nothing fancy. The beach in Dec was windy and not all that beautiful. The rooms were old, but we were hardly in them anyway. There is no hot tub, just jets in one area which has the same temp water as the rest of the pool. This was disappointing since the water was cold and it was chilly at night. A jacuzzi would have been useful.Drinks were great, entertainment staff a bit pushy to those who wanted to read rather than play pool volleyball!!!!

Hi - we just returned yesterday from the Allegro. I wasn't expecting a 5* resort and the Allegro isn't. I would give it a 3.5*. The front desk staff is wonderful. We were upgraded to the condo area for only $30.00 per night so we had a full suite, complete with a full oceanfront view and patio with chairs where others who came on the same tour with us just had a regular room. Our room was cleaned spotless every day. The beach is lovely - you can snorkel there but there isn't much to see. Move down the beach to the left and there were a ton of starfish in the water, about 4 feet out. The only "problem" we could see, and why I gave the resort a 3.5* is the restaurant service - minor things like putting out ice cream but not having a spoon to be found to eat it, no complete set up on the tables for lunch and breakfast - just annoying things like that. If the Allegro management could take care of this issue and maybe do a sprucing up of the resort, they would have a gold mine on their hands. Food is okay - good. You won't starve. I would recommend making reservations to their Italian Restaurant - Caruso's. We had an exceptional meal there. I stayed at the Allegro T&C in August 2000. The rooms were clean & attractive. The food was very good for an all-inclusive with a lot of variety - the sit down restaurants were better but we were limited to 2 meals there (they let us in for 3) The booze was top shelf stuff (intl brand liquors, Grand Marnier, etc.) The island is relatively undeveloped but the beach is incredible - powder white sand and the snorkelling is incredible. I would highly recommend Allegro T&C
