Hotels in Barbados
 

We are taking a family vacation next summer and were considering Barbados. We have two kids (ages 13 and 8) and we heard food is expensive in the Caribbean. Do you know of any hotels in Barbados that are 3 star+ that do not rip you off on food. I read that some hotels charge $20 per person for the buffet and that is way over our budget. Also, you know of hotels that have a nice beach with kayaking, snorkeling, and/or windsurfing on site? We are not looking at little family owned villas. Our budget is $250 or less for american hotels and $450 or less for All Inclusives.

I never pay expensive hotel food prices unless they comp me.

AIs have a certain sameness although food is plentiful

volume eaters and drinkers make money with AI I am not a fan

Works pretty well for big families though...

Almond Village and Almond Casuarina Beach are family-oriented, all-inclusive (almondresorts.com/barbados). Settlers' Beach Hotel has apartments. And Barbados is a wonderful island--plenty of things to do for everyone.

Been to Barbados with teenagers a few times - food is expensive - best bet is to get a place with a kitchen/kitchette - we bring a hockey bag down full of staples such as cereal/crackers/powdered drink mix etc. Most food about double the price and limited options, though not bad. We're still trying to find the 'right spot'

Sounds like an all-inclusive would be a great choice.

You might want to look on VRBO.com and see if you can get something with kitchen facilities and cook your own meals. $20 per person for dinner is cheap in the caribbean.

There's also food trucks and street food vendors that are very good in the Gap at night for a treat. Or Oistens on the weekend evenings.
