hotels and advice needed
 

We are considering a trip to St. Martin the first week of August - Esmeralda and La Plantation look like nice hotels - we have never visited the island before, but are looking for a romantic getaway - good food, great beaches - any ideas? Thanks!

We stayed at Esmeralda last summer and were pleased with the hotel and the surrounding area. It was our 3rd trip to the island. The onsite restaurant..L'Astolabe was very good and the service was excellent. You can't beat the food in Grand Case, a neighboring town. We much prefer the french side to the dutch side. It is more laid back and not as built up.

Sorry....the restaurant is L'Astrolabe ( now I think it is spelled right).
