Honeymoon - Need help!

Hey everyone. I've been back and forth between every kind of honeymoon and I still can't find the perfect place for us. I am planning this as a surprise for my fiance. At first, I was looking at the FP and FIJI, but I’m just having second thoughts on everything. I want to go to a really nice place and it seems that all of the really nice places in both FP and Fiji are out of budget($5500 for 7 nights). Also, I think my fiancé would enjoy a more luxurious resort place instead of something like these where you are “roughing it”(her interpretation of roughing it, not mine).

If I had to pick out a perfect place, it would be a medium sized resort, with a villa/bungalow on a nice, sandy beach(or a few steps from the beach), with luxurious interiors including a TV and preferably either a plunge pool or Jacuzzi, and with great food at the resort accompanied by great service. At this point, it really doesn’t matter if its FP, Hawaii, Fiji, or the Caribbean; I just think that to get this for my budget it may have to be in Hawaii or the Caribbean instead of the others. I've looked at many, but it seems that some that have the nice rooms may have bad beaches. Or the places with good beaches may have terrible food. Can anyone think of a great place that describes what I am looking for within my $5500 budget(including food and airefare).

Thank you,
-Brandon

We were actually in the same boat, but we have just decided! We were also considering Fiji or likewise, but the hotels just don't look up to par, I was looking for something more peaceful and romantic. After looking at probably every resort in the world, we have decided on Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda. The rooms seem peaceful and the restuarants seem to have a great reputation from everything i have read. And there are plenty of activities-water skiing, snorkling, diivng, hiking, etc. And i think it is in your price range. For 12 nights (although we are going in July, low season) we are paying $6200 with airfare included, but not meals. So for 7 nights, it may be in the budget. Depends on when you are planning for though...another one that looked interesting was Montpeiler in Nevis...the 2 things i didn't like about it were that it isn't right on the beach (i guess it's on a cliff). They have their own private beach, but it is 20 minutes away. Also, apparently the beaches of Nevis are not as smooth. I have also heard many good things about Four Seasons in Nevis, but we both wanted something smaller than that.

Peter Island in the BVI's.

Thanks for the reply. We would be going in June, so it would be low season as well. I will check those out.

Thanks,

You may want to look at Cap Jaluca on Anguilla. I think you may be cutting it close with the budget. In that case Cusinart on the same island may be an alternative. Anguilla has gorgeous beaches and first class (and expensive) restaurants.

I'm actually currently looking at Cap Jaluca and Cuisiart. I'm trying to decide if I would rather stay in a nicer suite at Cuisinart or just the standard room at Cap Jaluca. Most everyone seems to give the edge to Cap Jaluca for the beaches. Who has the nicer rooms?

Thanks,
-Brandon

Thanks to all for your advice. I have decided on Moon Dance Villas in Jamaica! It is exactly what I have been looking for!

Brandon,
Difficult issues I can only feel for you. You might want to look at Cook Islands, not far from Tahiti (French Polynesia) as far as cost to stay there....very reasonable, however as I'm sure you know not cheap to fly there nor short....but definitely a great place and reasonable. For the Caribbean, you really might want to think about a private villa with pool...it would be so much more romantic and somewhat remote than a hotel stay and would be a wash moneywise vs. a luxury hotel. A good honeymoon island is St. Barts and there are many others. For a sample of rentals look at www.gobeach.com if you have any other questions let me know, I do the renting thing alot and have been to most islands. Best of luck, congrats and happy holidays!
