Honeymoon in August - Hurr. Seasn

I am planning a honeymoon for mid-August. We would like to go to the Caribbean and are concerned with hurricanes. Is there much risk in August? Any recommendations?

Go south to islands like Barbados, St Lucia, Lesser Antillees, etc. They are generally spared the weather. August is quite steamy in those parts, but rooms are about half price.
Sean: Going further south is a good idea.

How about Aruba? It is out of the "hurricane belt" and it's also the off-season, meaning lower prices, less crowds.

It's just about the same temp all year since it's location is close to the equator.

Check out other info on Aruba with some previous postings.

Congratulations!
Other good ideas besides Aruba are Curacao, Bonaire and Grenada. Tobago is also in a good spot to miss the 'canes.

We went to the Caribbean during August every year for over 20 years without any problems. We just recently became aware that this was in the hurricane season. Isn't the information age great? The peak of the season tends to be in September. We would not hesitate to go to anyplace in the Caribbean during July or the first part of August.
