Honeymoon help!! St. John and???

Hello, this is my first time posting a message on here as I've been lucky enough to have so many knowledgeable messages to read so far. My fiancé and I (in our 20's) will be getting married in Sept. '03 and as a gift we got a timeshare stay (from his parents) to anywhere in the world! I've been to Hawaii before and wanted to see somewhere new. We've narrowed it down to the Caribbean and since have also chosen St. John as a place we'd like to stay. Unfortunately, we have to give a list of 5 places to stay to his parents for them to request from their timeshare. HELP! It has taken me FOREVER to find one (St. John) so far and I can't imagine having to find 4 more! It would've been a lot easier if St. John had more choices for timeshares, but they (the timeshare co.) only have 3 on St. John so our chances are slim.

Some things we are looking for are:

Great beaches and snorkeling
Some shopping (not a priority)
Hiking and exploring
Safe and friendly locals-with obvious common sense in mind and necessary precautions
Some water sports (maybe deep sea fishing, etc...)
We would prefer a lush and hilly island as opposed to a more flat and "desert" like.
Also good restaurant choices as I unfortunately don't eat seafood!

We will have our condo/timeshare paid for and most likely our plane tickets. We would like an island where we can eat dinner (for 2) for under $75.

Please help me, we have to have our "list" in within a week!! Thank you so much!

Jen

P.S. We are open to travel from mid Oct.'03 to Jan.'04 if we have to avoid hurricane season.

How about Jamaica (Negril), I am not sure what they have for time shares, but i was recently in Negril, Jamaica, and it was gorgeous, the water, the people, the mountains, the beaches.....

Hi Jen,

How about St. Thomas? You can visit St. John easily by staying there. I am going to St. Thomas next month (my parents have a time share there) and we take day trips to St. John. You could also take day trips to the British Virgin Islands from there...

I hear Barbados is beautiful, tropical, and safe. I would definitely put it on my list. Also, Belize and Costa Rica are similar places that you should look into (although they aren't, of course, Caribbean islands). If you don't want desert, stay away from Aruba.

Anguilla is one of the best Caribbean islands by far. Check it out. I have stayed at Cap Jaluca and also have friends that have stayed at the Frangiapanni (spelling?)The other island I would recommend is St Kitts or Nevis (costly in Nevis!)

Agree with Kim about St. Thomas. A lot of time shares avalable there (we do it once a year), plenty to do, your list is easily satisfied. A 10 minute ferry ride to St. John for something a little more laid back or a day trip to the British Virgins for an even more laid back experience. The most incredible scenery all over. We always check out this forum and usvi-on-line.com before our annual visit to see what's new. Regular visitors for 8 years now and on our way back again in two weeks. Can't wait.
