Honeymoon Help....

Hi! I am researching for our honeymoon in may...we thought about Tahiti and have voted against it due to the long trip...Hawaii, we've been...so we are thinking about the Caribbean---that being said...we were thinking of maybe doing 2 islands, i.e. st.barths and st. maarten...or anquilla and st. maarten...not sure...we also like barbados...we have not been to many caribbean islands but are looking for our first week to be nice and quiet-relaxing the 2nd week, same thing but maybe an option to have things going on...can you pls. help??? our hesitation with st. marteen is that it doesn't seem to have 5 star hotels, i think i came across one (but i'm new to this so i could be way off base) any advice you can give, ie best islands, best places to stay..that would be GREAT!

thank you!!

We have done St Barts & Anguilla several times -- fly into St. Martin & take a ferry to Anguilla (20 minutes) or a flight to St Barts (8 minutes). Anguilla is quiet -- no shops, casinos, golf, etc but 35 of the most beautiful beaches! St Barts has a town & shopping & some nice beaches. Both have 5 star resorts & fabulous restaurants. Check out the links at the top of the page at www.news.ai & also sbhonline.com.

P.S. Anguilla is flat & scrubby; St barts is lush & mountainous -- nice contrasts.

La Semanna (sp?) in St. Martin is supposed to be top notch. Great accommodations and great restaurant. We haven't stayed there, but we like Le Meridian. It's a very nice resort. Good luck.

Have never stayed there, but have read some negative reports about La Samanna (as well as some positive ones). My point is, if you are going to stay at an expensive 5-star resort anyway, why not go to Anguilla and stay at Cap Juluca, Cuisinart or Mallihouana? All beautiful resorts, and you have the peace and quiet and beautiful beaches and fantastic resturants of Anguilla...

I totally agree with Mary D. St. Barts/Anguilla trip would make a great honeymoon.

We love Anguilla and the Caribbean, however, since it is your honeymoon, I would not rule out Tahiti, well actually Bora Bora and/or Moorea. We went there for our honeymoon 5 years ago and would go again in a heartbeat. We plan to go back on our 10th anniversary. It is definitely worth the travel time and the most romantic place we have ever experienced. Congratulations and enjoy wherever you choose.
