Honeymoon destination advice.
 

My fiancee and I are discussing options for our October '05 honeymoon.

Neither one of us are hikers and we do not want the seclusion that some islands offer.

We are not big gamblers, but do thoroughly enjoy fine dining and shopping.

Ideally we would stay somewhere that offers exemplary accomodations and service, is close to good food and shopping, but also affords guests some privacy by the pool or beach.

Does something like this exist or am I being too picky?

We are open to any and all suggestions, Thanks!

Anguilla (Cap Juluca, Cuisinart)
Bahamas Out Islands ( Old Bahama Bay)
Ritz Carlton in Cayman Islands may be open then
And then there's St. Barths everyone raves about the food there and it seems it may fit the bill in your case. Downfall is that it's very expensive (Euro).

Sorry Old Bahama is not in Out Islands but there are some in the Out Islands such as the Four Seasons.

I second the suggestion about Anguilla. Anguilla has great beaches and very good restaurants. Not much in the way of shopping though you could take the ferry over to St Martin for a day.

Is St. Martin worth staying for a week or just a day trip?

i went to st marteen last summer for a week. didnt find it to be naturally beautiful. took the ferry to st barths and to anguilla. loved anguilla - thought it was beautiful and loved the tranquility. an entire week may be boring. st barths was also beautiful but loved it less because it is ridiculously expensive.
but to answer your question - somewhere between a week and a day trip is fine for st marteen. if you spend the night - stay on the french side.

Be sure to check, many of the resorts in the Caribbean are closed September & October,for hurricane season, reopening mid November.
