Honeymoon at Old Bahama Bay?
My fiance and I are planning to travel to the Bahamas for our honeymoon in August. We have looked seriously at Old Bahama Bay because it seems to offer the combination of easy travel access and a secluded destination. Any thoughts/comment/advice on West End and OBB? Is it too secluded to justify a 7 night stay? How easy/expensive is access to the Lucaya area?
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

AARON17S;SEARCH THE THREAD AND YOU WILL SEE MIXED LEANING TOWARD FAVORABLE.oN A HONEYMOON IF YOU WANT TO RELAX, READ, DO SOME SNORKELING IT MAY BE JUST FINE. TT IS PRICED I BELIEVE IN THE MID-RANGE OF THE RESORTS IN THE NORTHERN BAHAMAS.YOU KNOW THAT AUGUST IS THE MIDDLE OF THE HURRICANE/TROPICAL DEPRESSION SEASON BUT WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY ON VISITS TO THE BAHAMAS AND CARIBBEAN WITH ONLY A DAY OR SO OF RAIN IN EACH VISIT IN JULY AND AUGUST OUT OF 4-6 TRIPS AT THAT TIME OF YEAR. BUT THERE IS NOWHERE EXCEPT NAYBE ARUBA (NOT ROMANTIC)AND CURACAO WHERE YOU CAN AVOID OR MINIMIZE HURRICANES/TROPICAL DEPRESSIONS.

Aaron: Old Bahama Bay is a nice property. The rooms are beautiful and the beach is nice. However, it is at least at 50 to 60 minute drive to the Lucaya area and it is a BORING drive. We rented a car from Old Bahama Bay(a clunker with no side mirror) but the drives were a drag. West End doesn't have much going on either. I would not recommend a week's stay there for this reason.

I am going to stay there beginning Feb 18th for 5 nights. Will let you know what I think. My husband and I just returned from hawaii and have traveled quite a bit thru the Islands since we love to snorkel. The Turks and Caicos has always been a favorite of ours.

Hi, we did a long weekend at OBB a few years ago, and it was perfect for a 3 night trip. Beautiful rooms, beach, etc. I agree with the other posters that much longer would probably be too long unless you REALLY like secluded and laid back (we tend to like a nice, quiet place but want to venture out a bit to new restaurants, etc occasionally).
