Honeymoon
NEED HELP! I'm overwhelmed with island choices. Anguilla is one on the list. can anyone give me any advice on this island as far as nice accomadations (on the beach, snorkeling, etc). We would like to keep the budget to about $6000. AL would be great. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

The 3 top resorts on Anguilla are Cap Jaluca, Cusinart and Malliouhana (not necessarilly in that order), however, none of these have "off-beach' snorkeling. You see, although Anguilla has fabulous beaches it is not know for great snorkeling. The best "off-beach" snorkeling is at Shoal Bay East so check out the few places that are located on that beach. For starters look at KU (http://ku-anguilla.com/) to see if it is what you have in mind.
Not sure what you mean by "AL" - if that's "All Inclusive" you won't find any on Anguilla although some of the resorts do offer meal plans. |
Head to the Caves in Jamaica. It is the most romantic getaway my hubby and I have ever had and we go to luxury places. It is a boutique all inclusive on the cliffs in Negril. Breathtaking!!! Service was amazing and you get a cave dinner during your stay (I think there were 100 candles in the cave....amazing) and a sunset evening in the cave hot tub..beautiful! It's worth looking at. I never thought I would like Jamaica and it is one resort I can't wait to return to. Check out the reviews on tripadvisor and you will see what I mean. Good luck! As for Anguilla, I have friends who have stayed at Cap Jaluka and Cuisinart...both with great reviews. Peter Island Resort in the BVI's is a great spot as well as Jumby Bay in Antiqua.

I have a few questions about the Caves in Jamaica -
1. Does it have a white soft sand beach with CALM clear blue water in front of the hotel. 2. I hear that vendors harass you. Is that true? 3. Is it a highrise hotel? |
To answer your questions about the caves, it is on the cliffs in Negril, so there is no beach, but you won't miss it. It is on the cliffs with amazing clear blue calm water to jump into or go down the many ladders to swim/snorkel or kayak. The snorkeling is very nice It's where the boats bring people on occasion. It is not a high rise as on the cliffs, buildings can't be higher than a palm tree. There are 10 bungalo style rooms, so it's not like a typical "hotel" Noone is allowed on the grounds unless you are staying there so there are no vendors to drive you crazy. We did go to the beach 1 day and it is a nice beach. I would just find chairs closer to a security guard so vendors don't bother you. It's not bad...no thanks and they move on, but I had no desire to head back to the beach with all that is at the caves. Hope that helps. their website www.islandoutpost.com

We stayed at the ku last spring and loved it. I think they have a meal plan but the food on this island is FANTASTIC, so I would dine around. Also, of all the islands I've been Anguilla has to have probably THE most beautiful white sand beaches and turq water I've ever seen. Have fun!

I totally agree witht the last poster. After going to Anguilla for the first time, we go no where else!! We used to travel around to all the islands, but Anguilla is simply the most ejoyable ever. It's just beautiful.
