Hilton-St.Lucia
 

We are planning a vacation...Hilton St. Lucia is a strong possibility...help...can anyone give us some feedback about the hotel?<BR>Thanks

Very expensive! Spent an afternoon there and spent $185.00 for 3 couples for lunch buffet, and we only had 1 drink!

We spent a week at the Jalouise Hilton on St. Lucia in January 2000. It was our honeymoon, and it was absolutely wonderful. The setting is great, the cottages are great, the service is great. <BR> Kim is correct--the food is quite expensive, but there are ways to save. We kept some snacks and drinks in our litte fridge, so that we didn't always have to pay for that kind of thing. Also, you can go off the resort to eat some of your meals, which I would recommend if you want more local food.<BR> We thought St. Lucia was great because there was so much to do other than sitting on the beach (which we of course also enjoyed). We took a trip to Castries, several boat rides, a rain forest hike, etc.<BR> Other nearby resorts are Ladera and Anse Chastent (sp?). These are more primitive, i.e. no air conditioning, television, etc. Some people feel they are more romantic, but I preferred having a/c. <BR> Two thumbs up for the Hilton!

Forgot to mention that there were a decent amount of families at the Hilton when we were there. It certainly wasn't a problem for us, but I know there are some who prefer resorts without children.

DEAR KDR,<BR>THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY...IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER INFO REGARDING THE ROOM CHOICE YOU WOULD RECOMMEND (VILLA OR MAIN HOUSE) OR INFO ABOUT THE BEACH I WOULD BE VERY THANKFUL. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE TRYING TO DECIDE BETWEEN HILTON ST.LUCIA AND ARUBA (POSSIBLY THE NEW RADISSON) ALL COMMENTS WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. THANKS AGAIN

I would recommend a villa so that you can have more room and some privacy. With the villas you get you own little plunge pool, along with a nice patio. I am sure that the rooms are the main house are nice, but we really enjoyed having our own little place. We paid a little extra for an ocean view, but I don't think that is necessary.<BR> The beach is very nice. Imported white sand with little tiki huts and lounge chairs. We learned that most people go down in the morning to claim a spot before breakfast. The hotel staff is constantly coming around to see if you want drinks/food. My husband never understood the attraction of laying on a beach until we stayed at the Hilton!

My husband and I recently returned from St. Lucia and had a wonderful stay. The south end of the island (where the Hilton is located) is more remote and it is lovely but I was certainly glad we spent most of our time (3 weeks) in the north. We stayed at the Royal St. Lucian Hotel for over 2 weeks. The staff and people were incredible and the location was perfect. There are many restaurants in the area as well as bars if you don't want to eat at the hotel every night. I think it's nice to spend part of your time in the north and then a night or two at the Ladera resort or the Hilton. The Ladera is extremely romantic. The Hilton looked nice but I didn't see the rooms or try the food. Ladera is very close to the Hilton and it's a very romantic open air hotel. All rooms have excellent views and the restaurant Dasheen as well as the hotel bar also has a fantastic view (Dasheen also has great food and wine list to match). The Ladera rooms don't have phones or t.v.'s and are open air so you sleep under mosquito nets and wake up with the birds. The beach by the Hilton is very small and there were lots of kids around when we were there. Ladera is located high on the hills you need to take a 10 minute bus to the beach (you'd use the Hilton beach). The best beach on the island is right on the Royal St. Lucian in the north.
