Hiking/Tours near Punta Cana?
 

My boyfriend and I are headed to Punta Cana later this month for a wedding. We are not really into all-inclusive resorts, but it's a family trip, so we're rolling with it (our ideal trip is hiking in the rainforest in Costa Rica). I was having trouble finding info on activities in Punta Cana, as I've had no luck on the resort's website or general web searches. Does anyone know of any must-see spots or somewhere off-the-beaten-path to get away for a day trip or two and do something fun? We prefer to either go with a small group through a tour company, or to rent a car and drive to said destination, if it's feasible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
