Help w/ flight arrangements?
We're thinking of going to Anguilla May 1-10, 2005. We'd plan on using our United Mileage Plus but I believe the closest we can fly to is San Juan, PR. We're coming from Denver. How far and by what means would we get to the island? Cost? Suggestions, please?

From San Juan you can fly direct to St. Maarten (and maybe even Anguilla). The flight would be 30-45 minutes and cost will vary by season, but should be less than $200.
If there are not any direct flights to Anguilla, then you can connect in St. Maarten on a local airline such as Windward Island Airways, or take the ferry from Marigot on the French side. |
United is starting a new nonstop flight from Chicago O'Hare to St. Maarten. It may only go on Saturdays, tho, but worth checking out.

I would suggest flying AA to San Juan And then an American Eagle can take you directly to Anguilla. Anguilla airport is open to small aircrafts at this time, American Eagle will resume flying to the island by December 20, 2004. Flying to Puerto Rico is so much less hassell than taking a motor Launch from St. Martin(French) on to Anguilla. Anyway, however you get there, the trip is worth it.

If you want to use United miles, you can also book any USAir flight. In march, I am booked with United miles to go nonstop from Philadelphia to St. Maarten. We want to use up United miles while we know they still have value. I called the United number to book it.
