Help me to save time snorkeling

Greetings: I hear that snorkeling is best in Norman Island and Virgin Gorda. I will be traveling "solo" from Saint Thomas, set-out to snorkel in Caneel Bay, St. John. What is the entire proceedure in customs. My gear is very minimum and light. Thanks.

To get to Virgin Gorda you can take a ferry, in which case you need your passport and will go through customs.

If I remember correctly, you need an excursion company to take you to Norman, and they will do the passport customs for you.

Personally, you can find day trips that might include both, or a good grouping of snorkel islands, and the excursion companies run you through the passport and customs parts.

I'd say that the Indians are the best snorkeling I've done in the BVI. The Caves around Norman Island are pretty good, too, as is along Spring Bay on Virgin Gorda. For the first two you'll need to be on daytrip with a charter company, as Blamona indicates. If you just want to explore the snorkeling from shore on Virgin Gorda, take the ferry and rent a car for the day and drive yourself around. It's a small island and very easy to navigate on your own.

Thank you very much, blamona, qwovadis, and ejcrowe. So, "best snorkeling" in the Indians! Thank you for the tip on Spring Bay ejcrowe. A charter company sounds good too Blamona; what do you mean by "custom parts?" Thanks, it´s very helpfull...

Tours take care of passports and stuff when you go from USVI to BVIs. So all you have to do is bring the passport.
