Help me find my next vacation spot.

I have been to St John last year and found it to be a beautiful but a boring island. St Thomas was a dump so I did not explore it much beyond the shopping. I am looking for a beautiful island(similar to St John) where there are some activites. By this I mean tours(loved the Sierra Madre tour in P.V. Mexico), some nitelife(a couple of spots for clubs and/or casinos). Am I asking too much?
I thought I wanted Costa Rica but I am not sure. How about St Lucia? We are in our late 20's and enjoyed P.V. Mexico because of the shopping, activities, as well as the various tours. I think Cancun would be waaaay to much for us. Thought about a W. Caribbean cruise, but the thought of going to places like Sting Ray City and Dunns River Falls with 3 thousand other people was not appealing. I live in Chicago and would like to fly somewhere under 8 hrs. Thank you!

We have been to Costa Rica twice and loved it both times. Lots of adventure activities, nature, many smaller resorts with great hotels, good food, and most important no one bothering you on the streets and oh yes, friendly people.

The problem with St. Lucia is that the sea is so angry that you never get into the water. If we had not met some nice people there, we would have been bored to tears. We live outside of Minneapolis, so understand about the flying time. We liked GC because of the water, beaches, snorkeling, Sting Ray City, the restaurants, and it was a decent flight time, but there isn't a lot to explore. What about Jamaica? That's fairly easy to get to from Chicago. It's a beautiful island, and things to do -Dunns River, Rose Hall, the all-inclusives offer different types of nightlife and casinos. The Bahama's would also be fairly close.

So glad to hear you think St John is boring, one less moron on the island.
Go to Atlantis, you'll love it!

I second St. Martin, and Cancun was much better than I thought it would be. The hotels are beautiful.

St. Martin was scary...if you think St. Thomas was a dump, you'll be very disappointed with ST. Martin. We went both places on a cruise an thought St. Thomas was paradise. Magens Bay was pretty, but that was it for us.
