help...looking for great beach!
I am looking for a spot for soon (this June '99) with nice beaches & friendly people for a vacation with just my girlfriend and myself . I'm tired of the Cancun mentality (herd them in, herd them out), had a fun time at Provodenciales and Margarita Island in past (are they still pretty nice places?) but only have 5 days and need to be able to get there from Atlanta within a reasonable amount of time. Any suggestions? Activities and sights would be nice but are not mandatory. What about Bermuda? Can it be a romantic place with a little isolation? Help me....
Phil

Just got back from Aruba and the people there could not have been nicer. beaches are very nice with some of the prettiest water. I think you can fly direct from Atlanta on ALM. I would definitely check it out. If you need any info email me.

Dear Phil...Try any of the Outer Islands in the bahamas. Magnificent beaches, laid back.....no one else on the beaches but just you and your mate/significant other. We were in Eleuthera and this June going to CAT ISLAND! Not much to do but just hang out, relax, and enjoy!
Need any other infos, please e-mail me. Have fun!

Try Anguilla. They have awesome beaches. Rendezvous Bay is gorgeous!

From what I've gathered on my research and one aborted trip to Bermuda (hurricane)they don't have your basic big beach.

Many of the islands suggested in other messages are unreasonably far for a five-day trip!

Bermuda would be great for a romantic extended weekend. Natural beauty and people are so nice.

How about staying on 7 mile beach on Grand Cayman? very beautiful beach and clear, clear waters? Hotel & condos are plentiful!

Have fun where ever you go!

L

Phil, I agree with the suggestion of an outisland in the Bahamas. You can fly directly to Nassau and off on Bahamas Air to Eleuthera, Abaco, Cat Island, Long Island or several others.

My personal favorite is Harbour Island.
There are several nice places to stay that won't break the bank and several really good restaurants. My favorite place to stay is very small only 10 rooms and sometimes it's already booked, but worth a try. Runaway Hill, is a small intimate place, no kids, great food, pool, right on the beach, (which is deserted most of the time), nice deck area, and best of all wonderful hosts, they specialize in hospitality.

Have a wonderful time wherever you choose to go, and if you need any more info, please let me know.

tweedy
