Help-honeymoon in grenada?

My fiance and i are strongly considering Grenada for our honeymoon for 10 days in mid-April.... We are looking to spend around $4000 while there, (don't need all-inclusive) but would still like to stay at something romantic and still be able to explore the island. Would maybe be even interested in staying a few nights and than moving around. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to stay? We are in our mid-twenties, not big on nightlife or drinking, but all about scenery and relaxing. Thanks....

Easy...Spice Island. I was in Grenada last year (2001). Great Island. Go.

Me again...if you want to move around combine Spice with 12 Degrees North.

I have good friends that stayed at Laluna last summer and loved it. Check out their website..really unique cottages right on the beach. They said they found better food elsewhere on the island but the rooms were stunning.Rates are really reasonable too...good luck!!

Spice Island Beach Resort is one of the best because it is located on the island's famous Grande Anse Beach - spicebeachresort.com ... also search for `spice island` here for reviews. Food is included in their rates. I met some folks on the plane who stayed at La Source for the 2nd yr in a row and loved it there. Grenada is quiet and scenic, kinda like going back in time.

Thanks...we did go ahead and book our honeymoon for 12 nights....and are spending a few on Carriacou. We wound up doing most of the nights at 12 degrees north.. has anyone stayed here? It seems like people have some decent things to say about it.. and was relativly inexpensive since we got it off season $150 per night. Also, staying at the Down Island Villas on Carriacou.. any one familiar with these? (Pelican or Frangipani)....What exactly is there to do on this island? Thanks....

Hi Elisa,
We were in Grenada last march. It,s a beautiful island. We went to Carriacou on the osprey, take a tour of the island, the scenery from the top[up by the hospital],is fantastic, you can see lots of other islands, plus sandy island,You must go there, you catch a water taxi from paradise beach, and go across to this sand bank with palms on it .Do take some shade with you.We spent my birthday on sandy island,it was really romantic,we were there on our own the whole time, the snorkling was really great. We just stood and looked around, and could not believe how gorgeous the place was,.You will love it .Have a great time .E-mail me if you need any more info
sue

You are indeed lucky to be spending time at 12 Degrees North. On our first two visits to Grenada we stayed there and loved it (we now stay with friends). While it is not on famous Grand Anse Beach it is quiet and peaceful. Each morning your private maid/cook will prepare and serve your breakfast on your patio. Take advantage of her knowledge of local fruits and you won't go wrong! She will also prepare and serve lunch if you are there and can prepare and leave dinner for your evening in. We really enjoyed our quiet candlit dinners on our patio! It was a little weird at first having a cook but all of the women there know island food and it is such a treat! The owner and his wife are wonderful -- helpful yet unobtrusive. Also, April is off season which is when we go and 12 Degrees becomes even more private! You can do some OK snorkeling right off the pier. Also, the local driver that the owners recommend is a gentle, wonderful person who really knows and loves his island -- count on him for good ideas as well. Some great restaurants include Aquarium, Beach House, LaSagesse, Nutmeg and for local food Deynas. Be sure to take an island tour, and if you like to hike take a hike in the rainforest. The owners, Joe and Pat can set it up for you. We like to spend the day at the Beach House and Aquarium where you can sit on the beach, snorkel and have a great lunch! The steel pans are great at the Flamboyant on Monday night and the BoatYard on Friday night. We have been returning to Grenada for ten years now and when we try other islands in between we always return! Have only been to Carriacou for a day trip so can't help out much. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage.

Hello we are trying to figure out where our Caribbean trip will be this year. We always go in August. I have been looking at Grenada. How expensive is it? What hotel/condo are recommended? Are the beaches long enough to walk?
We live in Ohio. Is there a particular tour company (Apple, FunJet, etc) that specialize in Grenada?
Thank you for any information!!
