HELP! Couples Negril or Swept Away?
Having read the very helpful postings on both resorts, we are trying to determine which would best suit our honeymoon in June. Love the look of SA rooms with tile floors, wooden shutters and the verandah's with hammocks. Not bothered by lack of TV or swim up bar but my fiance is nervous that SA is more subdued than CN. We are in our early 30's and deliberately steered away from the 'organized fun' style of say a Sandals resort. We do however want to have fun and the overall ambience and feel of the resort is important. What are the age-ranges of the guests at these two resorts and does one have a more lively feel than the other. I got the impression that although SA is perhaps more quiet and reserved, its location means its a little more central to Negril's nightlife and after dark beach 'fun'. I would so appreciate some info from those who have been to either resort or (preferably) to both. I think my fiance is afraid of being stuck with a sedentary group but on the other hand is definitely not looking for rowdy, obnoxious party planning. We both agree it is absolutely in your attitude and what you make it but any indication of the differences in atmosphere will help us make our decision. Thanks in advance to all who take the time to post a response!

We seriously thought of going to Swept Away. It looks fabulous. I think you would enjoy either. if you want some insight I would suggest going to this messageboard & checking. http://www.tropictravelonline.com/cg...ltimatebb.cgi?
They have special sections for the different resorts. When is your honeymoon? Lobster season is closed from 4-1 til 6-30. We are so disappointed because we will be there in May & were longing for fresh lobster. Good Luck! |
I have only been to SA but have friends who have been to both and they all liked SA better. I think you will find the clientele to be very similar at both - largely because of the cost. We managed to make a party at SA almost every night because we met several other couples with whom we partied so it may be a matter of serendipity. We also knew couples who hired one of the employees at SA to drive them to the main Negril beach area and drop them off. They walked back to SA - hitting all the bars along the way. Another more adventurous couple hired someone to escort them to several of the local night spots in Negril and also to a big reggae concert.

"CSA's location means its a little more central to Negril's nightlife and after dark beach fun"
This is true. You can walk from CSA to the live music places and bars along the beach. |
Swept Away is much nicer overall. I have stayed at both and have returned three times to SA. I prefer the rooms, the ambience, the sports complex, the food and the beautiful rooms. It is subdued but I like that a lot.
