Help! Chenay Bay in St. Croix or Our Lucaya in the Bahamas?
I've been searching high and low for great prices on a March vacation for our family, which includes 2 boys ages 9 and 12, and found good deals at the above places. They will end up costing exactly the same, although we will have to pay extra for the kids program at Chenay. I haven't been to either island and am at a loss as to which is better. Can anyone help me decide, PLEASE. Thank you.

Nina, can't comment on Chenay Bay, but I can tell you Our Lucaya is very nicely done, it is on the water, nice pool area, good food and alot to do on Freeport. Also easier to get to, and will take alot less time, so more vacation.
You might want to find a buddy of mine on another board for ALOT more information on the resort and the island. Try www.bahamas-mon.com or www.bahamas.com either message board and ask for Carrie. Also another regular Danny knows the island well too.
I am sure there is a message board for St. Croix, so look around.
You should be able to get an even better price on Our Lucaya right now, they are offering some really good discounted deals.
Hope this helps.

Thank you Tweedy! That's the type of info I was looking for. I thought the resort looked nice, but for the life of me I couldn't find info on other things to do on the island or info on the kids program. My boys love the kids programs on cruises, so I was wondering if the program at OurLucaya was comparable. I also wondered if there are any beautiful, scenic areas of Grand Bahama, or if it is like Cancun, with just a strip of hotels.

Ok, if you are now asking for my suggestions, I would tell you to check out Coral Sands on Harbour Island. It is on the small side, and the whole island is VERY safe, so you can allow the kids to run around a bit on their own.
The resort is RIGHT on the water, with a nice pool, and beach bar/restaurant.
Lots to see and do on island, good food, and cheap islandy places for the kids to eat.
Very laid back and friendly island. You can get there by flying directly into Nassau and then taking the Fast Ferry over (your boys would love that) or flying (20 minute flight), for about the same price so you can take the plane one way and the ferry the other.
Try this website www.briland.com and tell the gang there I said HI.
Have a great time.

Thanks again Tweedy. Your first suggestion was very helpful. After checking the websites you suggested, I found a link to lots of photos of Our Lucaya and realized that it is not the type of place we would enjoy. Too contrived, too Disneyish, no charm. I did check Coral Sands and Harbour Island and you are absolutely correct. Definetely more to our liking and Harbour Island sounds like our favorite place-which is Nantucket. Thanks for you suggestion, we would have made a mistake going to Our Lucaya!
