Well ..... Off on a very last minute trip to Yelapa , Mexico !! ( booked yesterday , leave Thursday ) We are taking the children and will stay the first night in PV , then 6 at www.hotel-lagunita.com , then back to PV for a night . We were trying to wait for cheap airfare to Costa Rica , but a deal came on for here ! I think it will be an amazing experience for the kids , we get there by boat , no cars , the taxi is a burro ! Doing my darndest to keep it a secret .... but they are wondering about the whispering ! To keep this on track for the Caribbean , just let me say I loved Jamaica ! Had to try to hold up my daughters sandal to her foot in bed last nite ! And discovered my kitty had chewed my sons ! And of course .... I seriously need a new bathing suit !! lol , Faith .

Hmmmm..... Kitty did NOT chew my son's feet ! The SANDALS !! lol

Faithie, I'm so happy for you and your family. I don't know a thing about Yelapa, so when you return, will you let us know here that you've posted a trip report on the Latin American board?

Have a wonderful time--it'll be a welcome change from Canada (Toronto, is it?) right now. Arriving by boat and burro sounds like an adventure your kids will never forget.

Hooray for boats and burros :-) ! Better than dog sleds, eh ?

I will ! I will ! ( loved reading your adventure Marion ! ) Hi EJ , It's Montreal , even colder than Toronto ..... I will post a report for sure . Our hotel gets glowing reviews on trip advisor . Although scorpions concern me a wee bit ! Yikes ...Supposedly there are even Scarlet Macaws , and the Yelapa Bay is filled with Manta Rays !

Sorry, faithie. I almost said, "it's Montreal, n'est-ce pas?" but then went with Toronto. But I DO recall that you're an Islander, born & bred.

Can't wait to read all about it--I'll miss your posts while you're gone.

The website looks amazing, I hope you have a wonderful time - when are you going to tell the kids?

Couldn't leave yesterday ....which was the day of departure for fares at $146.00 +tx. return ( Montreal-Panama ). An insane fare !! I checked almost every hour for the past 4 days hoping they would put another up , but no luck ! I posted that on Latin America . So , now it's PV and Yelapa !! As for the kids , as long as I can stand it , I don't know how long I'll last ! Trying to sneak around with sandals , washing summer clothes , guessing what fits ..... should be great fun .

Panama is definitely on the list , and I have research under my belt , lol .

your kids are sooo lucky. the lagunita looks really cool. is the pacific as warm of the carib? would love to hear anything about snorkeling there as well. have a fantastic adventure. and hold on to that secret as long as you can...

I think snorkeling is so so . Mahauitas is not too far and has some snorkeling , but just so so as well . As for water ..... I will have to check that out !

Hi Faithie! Have a wonderful trip. Wow, how do you do it at the last minute? I'd be freaking out, trying to pack and organize. Kudos to you! I'd never heard of Yelapa, but after a look Hotel Lagunita's web site, I can't wait to read your report of this parents-kids trip.

Thanx Cali !! ( although my scottish stubborn temper sometimes gets me in trouble ) lol . I actually like this kind of trip best , adds to the excitement . And the kids still don't know !! CAN I do IT !!?? To be continued . And Jamaica is great !!
