heat/humidity/mosquito comparison
 

We are deciding on a honeymoon destination and are trying to choose among: <BR>anguilla (not sure yet of lodging - any advice?) <BR>petit st. vincent <BR>biras creek resort <BR> <BR>We are planning to go in mid-july, and I am curious to know differences in heat, humidity, and quantity of mosquitoes at each of those locations. <BR> <BR>While we find the idea of total privacy and isolation of PSV very appealing, we don't want to spend humid sweltering nights in mid july unable to sleep while being bitten alive. Biras may give slightly less privacy in terms of the lodging, but on the other hand they have A/C which means if it is too hot, we can survive the nights. And then there is Anguilla, which I am wondering may have fewer mosquitoes due to its less lush, tropical nature. <BR> <BR>Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. <BR>

We have stayed both at CuisinArt in Anguilla and Biras Creek... although we thought Biras was wonderful for honeymooners because there is no tv, etc... very secluded.... you have to be with each other and learn lots about each other, I got eaten up by mosquitos last June... my husband did not.. however, the ocean sounds at night, the seclusion and the wonderful, wonderful, wonderful restaurant made the mosquitos tolerable... plus very few if any children there....Anguilla was more American in terms of comfort... more AC, etc.... but not as secluded, however, the resort was exquisite.....we are going there this summer again... we don't know about the bugs there in the summer.... if you want total seclusion... take Biras... if you want more in the way of amenities... spa, etc.. take Anguilla....hope this helps..

Hi Mike, <BR>My husband and I stayed at PSV in June 1999 and I, who am usually a bug magnet, was not bothered at all. We learned from folks there that they do a lot of s <BR>praying to keep it bug free. The down side to this is that if you're interested in snorkeling off of the resorts beaches, which are beautiful, most of the coral is dead. We did see some interesting marine life but it wasn't nearly as good as some other areas we've been. <BR>We stayed in cottage #5 and feel that it amy be the best there. #4 and #3 were also beautiful. All with Great views, privacy, and plenty of breeze to keep you cool. some of the other cottages seemed as though they might be a bit warm. <BR>Hope this helps. <BR>Dawn

Never seen bugs in Anguilla in the summer at all. I'd go there over the other 2 islands/resorts. I've been to all 3. Look inot Cap Juluca and Malliouhana also on Anguilla.

We were at Biras in 99. Very unique! Totally different from the usual resort experience. It was late Spring and there were zero mosquitos. What we liked about Biras was, first of all, the food was fabulous. Excellent dining in the Caribbean is tough to find (you can only do rotie so many ways), but their restaurant stands up to a very good U.S. restaurant and provides a terrific view from their open restaurant high above the resort. Second, they feature a very spread out piece of real estate so that everyone has HUGE privacy 24/7. Many bitch about the bikes and having to pedal (such work!!) here and there. We found that a distinct pleasure, particularly the pedal out to Deep Bay ('bout half a mile) which is the location of the swim beach. I have to say that it is a killer of a beach inasmuch as you have a bay that is very long (maybe a half mile), with mountains on both sides, and not that wide (the beach at the bottom of the bay is about 200 yds), so the whole thing reminded me of Tahiti a very opulent setting for a swim. <BR>The staff is very friendly and you have motor boats at your disposal at all times, to use in Gorda Sound which, in and of itself, is somewhat of a spectacle. <BR>Recommend it highly! (Note: very heavy on honeymooners.)
