Havana..car and driver

I will be travelling to Havana, with another 60ish woman, for a week in February and am looking for a car and driver to take us around the city and surrounding areas on one or two days. Does anyone have any suggestions or names.

Thanks...

www.gocuba.com

www.felixarguelles.com/default.asp licensed good reviews

if you must reserve prior to arrival but usually

better always for me to negotiate direct boots on the ground

through hotel and locals for best deals from $25-50/da.

You can tour in a fifties car very cool a bit more $ but fun.

www.insuremytrip.com always wise... Have fun,

Contact either Pototo or Jorge. Both are Cuban "resolvers" who can arrannge a car and driver for you. I've chatted with Jorge and am friends with Pototo and either can do a super job of helping you out.

Just tell either of them that Steve_YYZ from Toronto recommended them.

Either of these guys can arrange a driver for you...

1.) Pototo: [email protected]

2.) Jorge: [email protected]

Enjoy Havana, one of my favourite cities.

salud

A couple of points in regards to the posting by qwovadis.

The GoCuba website is out of date since 2008 and no longer is a valid site.

As to the link to InsureMyTrip, well also be advised that NO American Insurance Company can pay off on any insurance claim from Cuba. That little thing called the Cuban Embargo prevents US firms from honouring claims from Cuba. Insurance is indeed good, but you'll have to either arrange international coverage outside the USA (make sure the company honours Cuban claims) or pay for coverage upon arrival in Cuba.

Here's the Cuban company set up to assist foreigners with their medical incurance.

Asistur

HEADQUARTERS:
Asistencia al Turista S.A., Prado No. 208, La Habana, Cuba.
Telephone: (53 7) 866 44 99.
Fax : (53 7) 866 80 87
24 hours Alarm Center
(53 7) 866 85 27, 866 83 39, 866 89 20, 867 13 15

If you do unfortunately need medical attention while in Havana, heres where to go.

The Círa García Hospital (Clínica Círa García, Calle 20 No. 4191, corner of Av. 41 and Playa; tel.: 204-2668 or 204-2489) offers health services reserved for foreigners. Guarantee of payment must be provided in advance.
There is also an International Pharmacy directly across the street from Círa García. Sorry, can't remember the exact name.

Other hospitals in Havana also have wards for foreigners, such as Hermanos Amejeiras Hospital, address: San Lázaro no. 701, Centro Habana; tel.: 537-877-6072 and 537-873-2934) or
Comandante Manuel Fajardo Hospital, (address: Zapata y D. Vedado; tel.: 537-55-2466 and 537-33-3701).
