Has anyone stayed at the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun?

don't waste a penny in Cancun on any hotel. It is a big, dirty city with a huge American meathead party scene. For the coolest place in the Yucatan, take a taxi or bus 45 miles south to Playa Del Carmen. It is charming, less expensive, has more European and Mexican tourists and has a much cooler vibe than Cancun. I have been to Playa the last 3 summers in a row. Food in Playa is safe and delicious and there are many options - you don't want an all-inclusive resort in Mexico. Have a great time no matter where you go!!

Okay, I'll answer your question since you obviously want to stay there and not the tulum coast. Yes, the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach is a very nice resort, rated five diamond in fact from AAA, the highest they give. It faces the lagoon side and is located near all kinds of restaurants and shopping. You shouldn't catch Montezuma's revenge from any hotel or restaurant located on the strip. Just in case though, you may want to drink the bottled water and take your Immodium AD. Their water isn't bad mind you, it's just that us americans aren't used to the minerals that they have in the water. Mexicans sometimes get sick from drinking our water! Anyway, although Cancun doesn't have much mexican flavor and is very americanized, they have a fantastic beach with gorgeous turquiose water. Have a great trip!

The Fiesta Americana Coral Beach is a beautiful and luxurious property. they have certainly earned their 5 stars. Stayed there last summer (Aug)with my 10 year old son. the pool area is magnificent and the hotel is located on the "lagoon"side and the ocean is not rough. the other side can have a very rough undertow. The service was excellent. AS for the Montezuma's Revenge, I drank mostly bottled water, my preference., however the water is safe. I think my son drank the water in the shower and got a belly ache out last day there.
As you may knoe, Cancun is very developed and Americanized with every mall and American chain. I would highly recommend the day trip to Xcaret we had a blast!
If you want the best hotel in Cancun I would suggest this property or the Ritz Carlton 0 the only other 5 star resort in Cancun. In August the property was very quiet!
