Has anyone seen or stayed at the Veranda Resort and Spa
Looking for an all inclusive that is on a pristine beach with decent food and lush surroundings. Came across the Veranda on a search engine. Would like some opinions on this property or others.

I haven't but just booked for April!
I apologize for all the questions but if someone could help me out I'd really appreciate it! • Is there anything NOT included we should be aware of? • Can you have unlimited drinks during the day at the pool / bar? • It looks like it’s extra to have the fridge in your room stocked with beer / wine but room service is included? • Are any other restaurants included in the All Inclusive price (offsite)? • Are there any specific things you wish you would have done / brought / asked for in advance that we should be aware of? Thank you so much for all your feedback & help! |
Hi we stayed there in March 08 when it first opened. Yes, you can have drinks all day, unlimited. Probably the only extra charges might be if your ordered a specific bottle of wine or a bottle of champagne, we drank everything by the glass and had no extra charges. I think now there is also a surcharge for one of the restaurants. Very nice spa with spa treatments an extra charge. I do not think there are any other restaurants included off site. Things to know -- the resort is very far away from most everything except the Long Bay Hotel and beach. You can also walk to see the Devil's Bridge but that's about it. If you are planning on leaving the resort you probably should rent a car (we did). The resort is very sprawling and depending on the location of your room, you could have to walk a lot (they do run shuttles as well). I recommend requesting a room close to the restaurants/main pool area/main beach. We ended up with what is probably the best room location in the entire resort -- right on the end overlooking the main beach (it's the one in the photos of the main beach on the website). We had the oceanfront category, which I highly recommend for great views. If you are interested in two great excursions, I highly recommend Eli's Eco Tour catamaran cruise and also Wadadli Cats circumnavigation of the island. A really fun day and Antigua is best viewed from the sea!

I have just come across this hotel as well as they offering bring one, four get to stay. It looked great on the web, but I guess I should request staying by the pool? They do have good rates right now. Is it a good place for kids or just adults looking to be alone? Either would work for us. We are used to going to Anguilla, but couldn't go last year due to the expense. We are looking for an alternative to the high end hotels. We normally stay at Cuisinart on Anguilla. Just can't do that right now with the economy. Any advice welcome.

I think it is a better family destination than a couples only trip, but depends on the time of year. Obviously, more children during holidays and summer. For a really romantic, adults-only destination, our favorite resort is Galley Bay, also an Elite Island Resort on Antigua. Higher-end than The Verandah but also higher priced! Verandah is not at the level of Cuisinart, but we found it to be a good all-around resort and a good value.
