Harbour Island - Golf Cart YES or NO???

We are renting a house on HI 5/20-5/27...it's name is the Chatterbox and it is in town on the corner of King & Crown...does anyone know this area? Do you think we will need a golf cart? We do want to see all the island so we will rent for at least a day or two but was wondering if we should get it for the entire week? Also, do they go that fast that we should reserve on ahead of time. Any info would be great.

I don't think you NEED one but I wouldn't go there without one. We like to buzz around down to Valentine's for an afternoon drink then back to the room to dress for dinner. I wouldn't want to walk everywhere but people do.

If that is over Memorial Weekend, I would rent ahead. We were there over 4th of July and we couldn't get one for 2 days.

Have a great time!

Dear Jennifer,

We were on HI in November 2005 and loved Harbour Island. Never bothered to rent a golf cart because we enjoyed the walking (stayed at Coral Sands). If I were there for a week, I might get one for a couple of days to do real exploring (although we walked FAR).

Just checked out Chatterbox on the website. GORGEOUS. You will love your trip. Enjoy!

You won't need a golf cart for other than exploring the island. YOur house is close to everything.

When you get on island, ask Reggie (the cab driver who will pick you up when you get there at the dock) who has golf cart available. It will cost you about $50 a day for a cart.

You can really walk everywhere from where you are staying, but it would be fun to see the whole island, which is 3 miles long by half a mile wide. You might drive down to the Marina for an evening to get a drink overlooking the ocean, it's an amazing vista from there.

Also go have dinner at Runaway while you are there, Miss Rica is still the chef and she is an amazing cook. Please give everyone my love at Runaway.

IMO, you need a golf cart. It ain't pleasant walking on those hot dusty roads. Even though the island is tiny, those walks to and from the beach add up.

My husband and I are planning to rent Chatterbox on Harbour Island later this summer. How was the cottage, and your stay? Thanks for your help.
