Happy Travels to all !

I have benn out of touch for so long, due to a six week, debilitating illness. I began reading a week or so ago, but writing is still an effort. Who would have thought that ;-) !

I know some are travelling soon (or were planning trips) and I just wanted to chime in with my good wishes to Owa, Brenda, EJ (Grenada in May ?) and CS (is Negril in May or June ?) and if the remaining brain cells serve, a Happy 40th is approaching !

I have missed my daily *Fodor's fix", and I'm sure there are others anticipating upcoming trips !

Happy and safe travels to all !

Marion

Oh my gosh Marion, I am so sorry to hear about your illness!!! I have been wondering where you were as I didn't think you had any travel plans. I had sent you a thing or two via private e-mail and they came back undelivered, mailbox full. I sincerely hope that you are on the mend. Drop me a line when you feel up to it.

Hugs,
Brenda

Welcome back Marion....I hope you are in full recovery.

Yes, we leave in 3 weeks for Negril! Excited and a little nervous at the same time with the little ones. 40th birthday has passed....the trip is the gift. My 20th anniversary of my first trip to Negril.

I'll post from Negril in late May. We are there for 2 weeks.

I hope you are feeling better....maybe planning a new trip will assist?

Hi Marion!

I've come back recently after being away due to a lot of work! I wondered if you were on a trip or something as I haven't seen your always humorous posts of late...I hope that you illness is not too serious!

Are you going anywhere this summer?

We are going to St. John for 7 days in August! We are also going to Austin next month but that is only for a long weekend. Right now I'm doing research about Caneel as that is where we are staying. However, I'm a little concerned as I've read about shark sitings at Caneel beach! I'm a product of the Jaws generation and am deathly afraid of sharks!

I must add, after turning the page of my recently delivered CT&L to the article on Idle Awhile with a picture of the beach looking north....those two beach chairs have our names on them! Those are the chairs in front of CocoLaPalm's hotel. The excitement mounts....

CaribbeanSoul- I got the issue this weekend. Idle Awhile was discussed as a Caribbean bargain, wasn't it? I thought of all of the people here when I read it. I really liked the issue...interesting article about Cuba, too.

Oh Marion, I'm so sorry to hear you haven't been well

I assumed that you were traveling and was sitting on a nice white sandy beach.

If you happen to be at Nisbet late June I'll be the short blonde with an English accent at the bar - I'd love to buy you a drink

mah - Idle Awhile is a very nice small resort but really, apart from the huge AI's, most resorts in Negril are small.

Beautiful place we will go back!

Hi Marion, I hope you are healing. I am looking forward to reading your assessment of Cambridge Beaches and Bermuda.

Marion, I am also distressed to learn of your debilitating illness. I'm glad you're better now, even if not quite back to your usual wise, witty, and delightfully acserbic self! I've been missing your daily infusion of good sense and solid advice, so I"m wishing you well from both an altruistic and a selfish point of view.

Many thanks for your good wishes. I leave on Monday, 7 May for two weeks in Grenada and I'm so excited that it's hard to believe I've not soiled myself! But today is my last day off before I leave, so maybe the sobering thoughts of how much work I have to do before I leave will temper my excitement a bit.

When and where will your next travels be?

Marion,

I have been wondering where you were! I hope you feel better soon. Thanks again for the recommendation of JI on Ocho Rios. We have a wonderful time and met so many nice people. We actually ate under the stars for 3 out of our 4 nights and yes, he had his long pants on. We must return. Thanks again and good thoughts your way!

Thanks to all for your good wishes ! it is so nice to be back in touch Recovery is slow but steady, but there are goals to keep me focused.

My daughter's baby shower is Memorial Day weekend in Chicago and the baby's birth should be around 8/9. I hope Chicao is better in the summer than it is in the winter !

The idea of going through an airport causes extreme anxiety, but I will manage somehow.

Travel plans involve non-stop flights, when possible. So many destinations are *off my list* from a logistical standpoint.

Have reserved two weeks at Jamaica Inn in November and going *home* to Treasure Beach for a full month in February.

In the meantime I will read all your trip reports and smile

Thanks again to everyone !

Marion

Hey, you're going to be a Grandma! Congratulations. You must be thrilled

However - This does seem to have been a VERY debilitating illness - stop playing it down! We care!

No travels until next February? Now that has me worried

Dear Alya,

It would be unseemly, (translate as YUCK !) to give details of my illness.

Suffice to say, I was compltely dehydrated, and the delerium that goes with that, many pounds lost and so on.

Livimg alome compounded many issues. But I had my beloved Spaniel, and a saintly neighbor, who is a nurse, and had the brains and respect to know if I said "NO HOSPITAL", I meant it ;-).

Stubborn is my middle name, I guess...but I AM rcovering. I welcome prayers for those who do...and good wishes from all.

Marion
