Just wanted to wish all the best for the holidays to everyone on this board.

If you are somewhere in the Caribbean right now, having chosen your ideal vacation with the help of advice from your friends who post here, then great !

Our Xmas lights are on, chefs are getting the champagne glazed turkey with andouille sausage stuffing (mmmm) ready for tomorrow, and Castro the Cockatoo has posted his xmas speech on http://thereef.blogspot.com , so all we need now is Santa !

If you aren't in the Caribbean on vacation this festive season, then make a New Years resolution to visit the Caribbean soon...

What a great timing! We decided to come for one week to Cayman Islands. My husband's birthday was on Friday and this is what he got, the tickets on Continental to Cayman Islands. This is going to be our first visit to Caymans. I read many posts here regarding this water paradise for snorkels. We are going to be there right after Easter. We have only one week and need to decide how long we are going to stay on Grand and how many days on Little Cayman. Now we need to find right for us accommodation and book it soon. We read a lot here about The Reefs but unfortunately there is some photo workshop at the same time we are going to be on the islands so we can only imagine this place is going to be very busy and loud. We need something very quiet. Nobody here mentioned mosquitos and sand fleas on Cayman Islands. Is there a problem with those nasty bugs? I need to be prepared. We returned a couple weeks ago from Cat Island, Bahamas and I suffered so badly from all those bites I got that I probably will never go back to Bahamas, at least to Cat Island. On the other hand we liked isolation and beautiful beaches. We did not find there any decent snorkeling which is an important activity for us. Any ideas and recommendations are very welcomed. Thanks

Thank you TomCayman, we are visiting for the 1st time in April. Your observations and advice have been duly noted and greatly appreciated. Sorry to say that my wife and I are staying on 7 MB. We do plan on coming over to see the BF Man. Merry Christmas

Pat2003, the week after Easter is a great time to visit, weather normally about perfect at end of April, island quieter as after the Easter peak.

No idea what photo workshop you are referring to, I'm afraid... but in any event we've yet to have any complaints from guests that our place is noisy, our slogan is "pure beach relaxation", so keeping it peaceful is key.

As to sandflies and mosquitos, anywhere in the Caribbean they can be a problem, sandflies particularly on the beach... but if you have a real problem, stay off the beach from about 15 minutes before sunset for an hour or so and you will be ok.
