hammock on the beach

are there any islands where you can really lay in a hammock on the beach? os is that all a marketing ploy?
I daresay you can do that on ALL islands but I know quite a few hammocks on the beach in Jamaica firthand :)

Anegada has a hammock on a few of the beaches, the Hawks Nest Resort on Cat Island, The Bahamas has a few on the beach as well. I don't recall if I saw one on Anguilla or St. John, but it wouldn't surprise me to find a few on Anguilla. I'm going to be looking for a hammock on a different Bahamas Island this sping and I'll let you know.

Mike

When at a Beaches Resort in Provo, T&C they had hammocks on the beach. They also had many children at the resort.

That was OUR advantage at Cat Island and Anegada, there were no kids, just available, unoccupied hammocks. (Sorry. When wife and I take a vacation, we like to get away from people, crowds, and noise).

Mike

Hammocks are a marketing ploy??

so many hammocks so little time. found few places that didn't have them and many have one for each room or unit.

To tell you the truth I have found them to be extremely uncomfotable. You need a mat or cushion to cover them or else the webbing is terrible.

My husband and I honeymooned this past summer at Peter Island Resort in the BVI. It was a wonderful resort - great food - off the coast of Tortola - 10 minute ferry ride. The beachfront suites have hammocks right outside the door - Do go to the website to check it out http://www.peterisland.com

They ARE uncomfortable.

The ones with the fabric - not rope - are cozy. The rope ones are nice with a beach towel between you and the rope. A spreader bar is nice too.

There's a nice shady hammock at Whistling Bird on the beach in Negril, hanging from a seagrape tree...there's also a plce called Whoopies up by the lighthouse in Negril that has - literally - dozens of hammocks, and very few poeple.

I think there was a hammock on the beach when we stayed at the Manchebo in Aruba. Anyway, after a few Arriba Arubas I thought I saw a hammock somewhere at the beach.
