Half Moon Jamaica Snorkeling?

Anyone know if there is wade-in snorkeling from the beaches at Half Moon?

There is not. You will have to take a boat to an offshore reef.

Down the road from Half Moon (about 5 min car) is Rose Hall Beach Club. There is a very nice beach and from there they will take you shortly off shore via a boat for snorkeling. There use to be a little restaurant and bar there too. You have to pay a small fee to get in thus it is well kept and always monitored.

The main beach at Half Moon is nice enough, with calm turquoise water. But it does not compare with many beaches in the Caribbean. In contrast, we have been to Caneel Bay each of the last two years (and already reserved for next year), where the beaches are sublime and the wade-in snorkeling is great. We found Half Moon to be a little stuffy and are not likely to return, although the villa we rented there was perfect for our extended family vacation. In my opinion, Half Moon only makes sense if you are a golfer.

Thanks, Neil. We too have been to Caneel. We are always on the lookout for less expensive places with shade on the beach and wade-in snorkeling.
