hacienda tamarindo

we're trying to decide where to stay in vieques; hacienda tamarindo, bravo beach hotel or martineau bay. anybody have any opinions?

It kind of depends on what you are looking for. Martineau Bay is more of a traditional resort (larger) experience. Tamarindo and BBH are smaller, more boutiquey hotels. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

Haven't stayed at Hacienda Tamarindo. Have stayed at Martineau Bay twice and have seen Bravo Beach Hotel. There is hardly any beach and what there is at Low tide is rocky. Check out the Martineau Bay web site. They are having a spring/summer sale.

We have stayed at the Hacienda Tamarindo and we absolutely loved it. We stayed in room #5 (the only room with it's own terrace) - we had a view of the pool as well as the ocean. Of course you have to drive to the beach - but that is a given on Vieques if you want to go to the best beaches. Make sure you rent a vehicle so you can explore them all!

We stayed at the Hacienda Tamarindo in March of 2004. The room we stayed in was a pretty good sized room - comfortable bed very clean. The bath and shower (no tub) were smallish - but there was a separate area with a large counter, sink and mirror that was separate from the bathroom. Breakfast was included and the quality of the food was very good.

I would definitely stay here again.

PAGirl, we saw two rooms with what I would call private terraces, both looking out over the pool, but one of them had a better view of the ocean. As you are in theh pool looking back at the inn, was your room on the far left or far right?

From the pool looking back at the Inn, our room was on the far left. We had a very nice view of the ocean.

That did look like a desirable room. Did you have any issues with other guests not respecting your privacy by trying to look around the dividing wall there?
