Grenada Flights

My fiance and I are looking into going to the Caribbean for our honeymoon in September 2011. One place we're looking at is Grenada. We've searched sites like kayak and expedia for approximate flight prices, and we're only seeing flights for around $900 round trip and many require 2 stops (we'll be flying out of Denver or Minneapolis). Is that typical for Grenada or or should we be looking at other sites? Thanks.

neither site is listing prices that far out at this point, but $900 is not too unexpected for denver to grenada. nor is 2 stops - it's not the easiest island to get to.
you may be able to get real prices from a travel agent now.

Virginia is right, Sept 2011 is way too far out to start looking at flights. I don't typically book our flights until 2 to 3 months ahead.

Fares to GND from our area in DC typically run $700 - $750 inclusive of taxes. The typical "gateway" to GND from the U.S. are Miami or San Juan via American Airlines, or JFK via Delta.

Flying to anywhere in the Caribbean from Denver or Minniapolis is going to take at least one stop (for the major islands) and two or possibly three (or a ferry ride) if you choose a smaller island. Unfortunately for you Grenada is not a major island.

As far as air fares are concerned, that's hard to predict but $900 PP from Denver to Grenada is probably close to the norm. The thing to do is keep checking prices so you get an idea of what the average going rate for your destination is. That way when you see what looks like a "good price" you shou;ld not hesitate and book it as good fares often do not stay around very long. It is not unusual to see a "fare sale" one day and the price be higher a day later.

It's too early to find good priced now for September 2011. As I pointd out in my reply to your other post, September is "off season" so you shouldn't have any difficulty getting reservations for your resort and airline seats if you wait a while.

I agree with everyone that it is too early out - most airlines will not have fares available that far in advance - they are usually from 11 months out. To get the best fares possible, it is way too early to start checking and September is an off-peak season so you should have no problems booking closer to that date. From the USA at present, flight options are American Airlines, Delta and Air Jamaica. Grenada is a great choice with lots to see and do - and a great Wedding & Honeymoon destination.

I agree that it's too early to book for September 2011, but I also think that if you find anything UNDER $900 pp DEN-GND that you should jump on it. Even from the east coast and a major airport like Boston, we've been seeing fares in the $750-850 range pp.

Thanks for all the responses. I should have clarified more. We aren't actually looking for specific flight prices in September 2011 yet, but we've just been picking random dates to see the average flight price to Grenada just to get an idea.
